Policing in Vancouver Blog

Behind the Blue Line. Policing in Vancouver Blog. I’ve started running the trails again, the ones that I used to run with PD Hondo. People and dogs populate the trails in the warmer months, and, unless I’m working, I dislike crowds. Now that the weather is starting to cool off and the leaves are falling, I have the trails pretty much to myself. No white noise, no talking, no music. I’ve got my health, my family and friends, and a pretty cool job. Posted in A Day in the Life. Not only did I score rock-sta...

Because I, in turn, had my own grove of oak trees – my fellow dog handlers, fellow officers and friends. I’ve been working in this investigativ...

Friday, 28 February 2014. After our hiking trip on the Arizona Trail we took a rest day to get cleaned up and catch up on photos and other computer stuff. And then afternoon sport climbing at Queen Creek. These descriptive and decorative tiles were placed throughout the Arboretum. Andrew getting ready to start...

The Failure of the 3 Strikes Law | Expert Crime Analysis Blog

https://vancrimeanalyze.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/the-failure-of-the-3-strikes-law

Expert Crime Analysis Blog. Comments by a Vancouver crime analysis expert. About Mario G. Sullivan. The Failure of the 3 Strikes Law. The 3 strikes law is the idea can have 3 major offenses before they are put in prison with a life sentence. It sounds great in theory to give people 3 chances to smarten up. Is that good use of tax money? The 3 strikes law causes more problems than it solves. There are certainly better ways to deal with repeat offenders. The Failure of the 3 Strikes Law. Cops 2 Point 0.

Behind the Blue Shield

Behind the Blue Shield. Monday, June 1, 2009. To live requires money and being a cop doesn't pay very well. You can make a decent living, but it requires OT. Overtime is the lifeblood of an officer's paycheck and getting it requires working the system. For a detective in a narcotics division it means having cases and making arrests. Cases leads to retroactive investigation (OT) and arrests lead to court dates (OT). How do you get cases? In the end all that matters is a drug arrest is made and I get paid.
