London Loverly: March 2008
http://londonloverly.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 30, 2008. No Wonder It's Dark. Every day, several times a day, for the past week, I have walked these narrow stairs to my room:. I have passed the gold and platinum records several times, thinking they were some kind of decoration. The other day, I paused for a moment and read what was on printed on one of the records:. To Recognise Sales in the United Kingdom. Of More Than 250,000 Copies of the. My homestay's father's name is Ed. My homestay's father works for the BBC. Ed, are you. In the ...

London Loverly: No Big Deal, and No Big Boxes
http://londonloverly.blogspot.com/2008/06/no-big-deal-and-no-big-boxes.html
Monday, June 2, 2008. No Big Deal, and No Big Boxes. Apparently, shipping things larger than a coffee table book is an insane idea in the UK. I searched in vain for a box big enough to hold some things I am shipping home to myself, and nowhere could I find one. I went into six stores on High Street, each one of them repeating the following:. Have you tried the post office? Yes, they don't have any.". Well, I can't think of anyone else who would carry something like that.". View my complete profile.

London Loverly: Where Do I Go From Here?
http://londonloverly.blogspot.com/2008/06/where-do-i-go-from-here.html
Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Where Do I Go From Here? What I have taken away from my study abroad experience is the desire to really immerse myself in my surroundings. To sink my teeth and dig my nails into l.i.f.e. Carpe Diem. May have too many associations with dead poets, but I can't think of a better term to describe this theme I have chosen. This is not an ending. This is a beginning. I am very much a fan of alliteration. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The Joy of Soy.

London Loverly: At The Louvre, The Statues Keep Secrets
http://londonloverly.blogspot.com/2008/06/at-louvre-statues-keep-secrets.html
Friday, June 13, 2008. At The Louvre, The Statues Keep Secrets. Fascinating statues. Particularly struck by the surreptitious, playful expression on the boy in the last picture. London Loverly: A Whim Deserving of a Longer Entry
http://londonloverly.blogspot.com/2008/06/whim-deserving-of-longer-entry.html
Sunday, June 15, 2008. A Whim Deserving of a Longer Entry. In between Italian, Spanish and French 16th-18th Century Paintings and Greek and Roman Antiquities, I decided to look up her address on the map of Paris I had in my bag. I discovered that her apartment was in the same arrondissement that I was staying in. Not only that, but I had walked by her apartment while exploring the area two days before. I then noticed her last name on the callbox. Now, this is lucky. I have yet to see another apar...I sho...

London Loverly: Barack and Roll!!
http://londonloverly.blogspot.com/2008/06/oh-my-god-obama.html
Tuesday, June 3, 2008. I've been imagining this moment for a while. Before coming to London to study, I imagined following the campaign's every move, and rushing into my host family's sitting room while they were knitting or drinking tea or making cottage cheese or whatever it is they do here in England, and screaming "Obama won the nomination! Only to be met with, "That's nice, dear.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Dianne Poinski Hand-Colored Photography. The Joy of Soy.

Sensory Seattle: November 2008
http://sensoryseattle.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 16, 2008. Almost two weeks now, and I still feel elated and proud (elatoud? Perhaps Little Edie captures my sudden patriotism best. Yesterday, thousands of people across the nation protested the passing of Prop 8. In Seattle alone, six thousand. Something must be done, and it must be done now. This is ridiculous that certain sects of our society still don't have equal rights. It makes me clench my fists and dig half-moons into my palms. It just doesn't make any sense. My roommate and I w...

London Loverly: April 2008
http://londonloverly.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Roman Holiday, Part II. Sunday morning, I woke up early and met Amber at Bruno (the giant statue of a hooded figure in the middle of Campo Dei Fiori). We grabbed some coffee, got to talking, and discovered that we are both from the foothills of Northern California and went to the same elementary school. Wild! After a nail-biting tie-breaker volley, we won the game! I wish I had pictures to demonstrate the juxtaposition between their side of the field and ours. Alas, I will ...
