being new: September 2009

Subscribe to my feed. Self improvement in .net. Versioning with teamcity and nant. To run my builds for a few projects and find it very easy, reliable and intuitive. It integrates with Subversion and NAnt with little effort but one of the missing tasks I had was to version my assemblies with the build number, so I took it upon myself this week to sort that out. MyProject.Core.Build; [assembly: AssemblyVersion(Build.Version)] [assembly: AssemblyFileVersion(Build.FileVersion)]. Version = 0.1.0. Copy file= ...
being new: How I limit my abstractions in fubuMVC
http://www.beingnew.net/2012/03/how-i-limit-my-abstractions-in-fubumvc.html
Subscribe to my feed. Self improvement in .net. On Thursday, March 1, 2012. Http:/ www.beingnew.net/2012/02/seeing-light-about-abstractions.html. How I limit my abstractions in fubuMVC. In my previous post. I discussed my own design of Controller Messages that I had previously used in ASP.NET MVC to force single responsibility principles and to ensure that I didn’t have any fat controllers. My conclusion from that post was that I no longer need these handler abstractions now that I am using fubuMVC.

Subscribe to my feed. Self improvement in .net. My first personal code retreat. To tie in with the Global Day of Code Retreat. I’m doing some personal retreating so that I can practice and hopefully learn some new things. There is a great intro video. Referred by the code retreat site that gives an introduction to what it is all about – in essence “perfect practice makes perfect”. Rather than trying to solve a whole problem, just code as perfect as you can for a short period of time. Any dead cell with e...

Subscribe to my feed. Self improvement in .net. Writing the first acceptance test for robocode. In previous posts I've set up an acceptance testing framework that enables me to run a battle and I'm now ready to write my first acceptance test. To recap, my acceptance test that I want is:. In a one round battle, fighting against a single robot that does not move, the slayer robot should win. So here's how I want to write that:. Battle( in a one round battle fighting against. Battle battle; static. I now re...

Subscribe to my feed. Self improvement in .net. Verifying my robot manipulation. In this post I'm going to wrap up this second robocode series. By verifying that my new design works the way I want it to and hopefully showing that all this work has paid off. To review, here's a brief description of my design:. The run method is called on my robot by robocode. My robot first retrieves a robot engine from a service locator and passes itself to the engine. As I cannot debug my robot. Through visual studio, I...

Being new – my new blog. Separation Of Concerns and MVC. May 4, 2008. Navigating the Maze - Mike Henry. My thoughts on life, tech, God and whatever else might cross my mind. Monday, May 18, 2009. Have code in classic ASP? Want to write unit tests for it? Want to make it easy to run those tests? Here’s my solution: ASPUnitRunner. It’s a .NET library that enables running ASPUnit. There are multiple options available: create an application shortcut for Google Chrome, write a script that uses cURL or wget, or setup Selenium or Watir tests like @calvinb. By Justin Davies. (...

Being Newlyweds
This is my favorite time of year- I just love Fall. This year we went to Johnson Farms with my parents and the boys. It was a lot of fun. There were so many things to do. Here are a couple of shots of the boys. Happy Fall! Phoenix, Sedona, Tempe and Scottsdale- Oh My! Steve and I just got back from a 4 day vacation without our kiddos- we had a great time. The sun was like Mexico sun, really hot. No humidity- it was nice. But it was hot. Then we went up to Sedona which was up in elevation up to 6000!
