TABU
http://www.belfastrotaryclub.com/index.php/tabu.html
The project had its first study visit in 1992 and one has taken place every year since. The rather clever logo for TABU was designed by John Armstrong, then a member of the Club. The banner reproduces the Edmund Burke quote:. All that is required for EVIL to prosper is that good men do. It first featured, just before that first visit, in an article in the Belfast Telegraph, 22nd April 1992, written by Robin Morton, the son of our past member PP Stanley Morton and one time Honorary Secretary. TABU is prod...

http://www.belfastrotaryclub.com/index.php/blog/242-club-hears-about-ethics-in-business.html
Club hears about Ethics in Business. Thank you Past President Gordon Millington who, reflecting a very personal interest spanning some 30 years of his career as a civil engineer gave a very thoughtful and thought-provoking talk on the ethics and development of codes of conduct within his profession to the Club Monday 27 April 2015. His talk, which resonated extremely well, was well received by his very attentive audience. Past President Albert Baird RIP. Presentation to Glebe House.

Devastation in Nepal
http://www.belfastrotaryclub.com/index.php/blog/248-devastation-in-nepal.html
Following the recent delivery of tents to several hospitals in Kathmandu to provide safe spaces for treatment for people injured by the earthquakes, shelter to almost 1,000 people in remote communities in the mountainous district of Sindhupalchok has been distributed, despite the almost impassable roads and heavy storms. The short video illustrates the terrible conditions. They found total destruction in the villages that they came across, bricks and timber have cascaded down the mountainside and people ...
ShelterBox Nepal Response
http://www.belfastrotaryclub.com/index.php/blog/245-shelterbox-nepal-response.html
ShelterBox's first tents in Kathmandu have been supplied to four hospitals which have been devastated, forcing medical staff to treat their patients outside with dwindling supplies; thus creating safe, covered spaces where patients can be treated in privacy. They will be used for carrying out minor operations, changing dressings and as mobile health clinics too. The need for shelter has become even more desperate as temperatures are dropping to zero in many parts of Nepal, thunderstorms and heavy downpou...

Sunday, February 26, 2012. Road Trip – Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-A-Rede, and Bushmills. The journey continued to the Carrick-A-Rede where a rope bridge has connected Carrick island to the mainland of Scotland for nearly 350 years. The brige itself has of course been replaced and re-replaced since its original establishment, but at 100 feet above the crashing sea through a channel of high winds it is a unique way to experience the Irish coast alongside high cliffs. Monday, October 31, 2011. Earlier this year I reported. Although I've highlighted the graffiti along the wall in these images, the park is actually a very nice green space in an are with a fair amount of social housing development. There is a small pond where people were fishing at the time. That said, there were very few other people in the area when I was there. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Damage of Refusing to Forget. Wednesday, June 15, 2011. The unforgettable experience I had over the past nine months provided me with priceless personal and academic growth as well as fascinating new friends and colleagues. I can't thank the US Department of State, the Cyprus Fulbright Commission, the Cyprus Institute, and my dearest advisors/mentors/resident aunt and uncle (Rachel and Nikos) enough for making this opportunity possible, and for supporting me to make it a success. Posts will come less frequently. Tuesday, June 7, 2011.
