Still Flying Over the Rainbow: September 2013

Still Flying Over the Rainbow. A companion to the book "Flying Over the Rainbow". New posts monthly. Wednesday, September 25, 2013. No Dirty Birds Around Here! Regular bathing is important for companion birds, both for the hygiene and for the obvious enjoyment they get out of it. As long as the water is a steady, gentle trickle, they're happy. But suddenly she changed her mind - and here we are. SPLISH SPLASH! I'm hoping she's turned a corner, and will get back to enjoying her shower more regularly.

Still Flying Over the Rainbow. A companion to the book "Flying Over the Rainbow". New posts monthly. Wednesday, August 28, 2013. August is late-winter in Australia. It doesn't get as cold here as it does in Ohio, but even so you do feel the chill on days when the wind is blowing rain here on the mountain. The photo below was taken last Friday afternoon - when it was about 10C (roughly 50F or so). Double-click the photo above to view a larger image). Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Still Flying Over the Rainbow: April 2013
http://stillflyingovertherainbow.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Still Flying Over the Rainbow. A companion to the book "Flying Over the Rainbow". New posts monthly. Saturday, April 27, 2013. We woke up to a windy morning (Laka hates it when it's windy - makes her jittery). I checked the CFA website and found that there's one more district labelled with "Very High" fire danger (yellow), but surprisingly, there's no fire ban today. In the meantime, my windows remain shut. Saturday, April 27, 2013. Friday, April 26, 2013. Not What You Expect in Late April. The medicine ...

Still Flying Over the Rainbow. A companion to the book "Flying Over the Rainbow". New posts monthly. Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Last week I thought we were seeing the end of the scary weather. I was wrong, very wrong. Last Weds. the CFA. Rated the fire danger as "Very High". Oh, lordy. today it's worse - today it's "severe". In most of the state, including the central district - where we live. The temperature as I type this. Tomorrow the rating will drop back down to "high". Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

Still Flying Over the Rainbow: February 2013
http://stillflyingovertherainbow.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Still Flying Over the Rainbow. A companion to the book "Flying Over the Rainbow". New posts monthly. Wednesday, February 27, 2013. I discovered Monty Python's Flying Circus as a teenager. The program was broadcast weekly on the local station "WOSU" (OSU being Ohio State University). Dinsdale, as bad as he was, had an Achilles' heal - he was terrified of an imaginary hedgehog named "Spiny Norman", who apparently grew to enormous proportions whenever Dindsdale was depressed. Had bolted out the door and, sh...
