Feeding Program - Believe in Haiti
http://www.believehaiti.org/feeding-program.html
Our Solutions: Feeding Program. We have found the most effective way to care for hungry children is to bring help directly to them. The feeding program provides a traditional meal to impoverished children who otherwise might not have regular meals. Our program also provides a small income to cooks and raw food vendors, creating a local micro-economy. One meal costs approximately $0.60. You can purchase. 40 meals for just $24;. 100 meals for $60; or. A year of meals for $216. Create a free website.

The Situation - Believe in Haiti
http://www.believehaiti.org/the-situation.html
Poverty, hunger, malnutrition, high food prices, hurricanes and earthquakes. Imagine a place where water is not safe to drink, food is scarce and expensive, poverty presents itself at every corner, and families are extremely vulnerable to natural disasters. In the wake of the tragic earthquake of 2010, most Haitians and their families are still struggling to rebuild their lives. The devastation of this historical event only amplified the destitution and poverty of the people. Believe in Haiti -.

It was an honor and incredible opportunity of photographing (and listening) to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. During two teaching seminars at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Presented him with a bicycle jersey and helmet and the Dalai Lama put the helmet on and said, “…thank you, it’s protection and armor while on the journey…”. I enjoyed this opportunity immensely! Saturday, September 7, 2013. I hope that all who read this blog realize we lived in Haiti for less than one year, we were not missionaries there and I have VERY little knowledge of all things Haiti. I can only share my experiences, opinions and love for the beautiful Haitian people whom we have come to love so much. Please forgive me for anything I have shared that turned out not to be true. Henwoods In Haiti: April 2012
http://henwoodsinhaiti.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 30, 2012. The emotional and spiritual strength of the people of Haiti always impresses me. I have said this many times. I wanted to share some pictures of the physical strength. These are just some of the images I have caught. Some other images that I have not caught, but have seen. One day on our walkabout, a man was walking in front of us with a large machete. We watched as he quickly cut down a large tree, threw it over his shoulder, and walked back up the hill towards home. I was able t...
Henwoods In Haiti: February 2012
http://henwoodsinhaiti.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 28, 2012. So tonight we decided to hire an armed security guy for the night shift. He is a member of our Church. We met with him and feel really great about it. Nothing really has changed, we just feel like we would never forgive ourselves if something happened and we did not take all the. Precautions we could have. Now mind you every person who has ever been in or out of this house save our family and 2 friends is Haitian and therefore "black". My daughter is "black". We have. I am hav...
Henwoods In Haiti: July 2012
http://henwoodsinhaiti.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 27, 2012. People keep asking how we are adjusting. Lots of days it feels like we never left. This is definitely our home. Which is good.and bad. The first time I went to Costco I seriously had a hard time catching my breath, literally almost in panic attack mode. We did not buy anything. Today I went and spent hundreds of dollars at Costco. Some days I feel totally disgusted at the waste and the ridiculous conversations I am part of. Some days I do not even notice. There is one bed. No kitch...

Henwoods In Haiti: Hair
http://henwoodsinhaiti.blogspot.com/2012/08/hair.html
Saturday, August 18, 2012. While we were in Haiti, we took anti-malaria drugs. One of the side effect that we noticed was hair loss. I am not talking a piece here and there, but rather chunks. So IS and I both had our hair chopped off. Me about 10" and her 8". It's just hair right? August 23, 2012 at 7:50 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Donate Through Our Organization. Henwoods In Haiti: My new definition of clean
http://henwoodsinhaiti.blogspot.com/2012/08/my-new-definition-of-clean.html
Sunday, August 19, 2012. My new definition of clean. I have had to majorly redefine my definition of clean. I am the kind of Mom who baths my kids every night with very little exception, then put them in clean PJ's every night, then puts them in a bed where sheets are changed weekly. I like things clean. I do not like shoes in my house, etc. So, Haiti was a major readjustment. PJ's are worn for days because all laundry is done by hand. There are literally worms in the water we bath in. Clothes are usuall...
