Daniel keeps the portal — The Daily Portal ๛
http://thedailyportal.com/post/2013/05/20/daniel-keeps-the-portal
Daniel keeps the portal. A friend helped me understand my own work. Bar, after the wedding party and the unruly bus ride back from it, I had a pivotal conversation with a childhood friend, the documentarian Daniel Schwartz. Explores the influence of urban places on groups of people. He and Urban-Think Tank. Good question, Schwaz. They're almost universally...

Guitar, guitar — The Daily Portal ๛
http://thedailyportal.com/post/2013/07/23/guitar
Trashing hotel rooms like a rockstar since 1990. In the spring of 1990. We took a little trip to the North Carolina mountains as a last family getaway before the baby who would be known as Sam was born. Our good friends, Lisa and Jeff, and their young son, Daniel, joined Susan, Jon, and me. His favorite instrument for his musical forays was a guitar-shaped lint brush which, of course, became known as the lint brush guitar, and went with us to many restaurants and on other forays. Looking for his Precious.

Interview: Finny — The Daily Portal ๛
http://thedailyportal.com/post/2013/05/22/interview-finny-on-gender-and-brilliance
On gender and brilliance. An artist, writer, and game-maker I met through the Internet, is about gender. I wanted to ask Finny about gender after reading this essay. Where do you think gender and other identity roles come from? What’s the balance of innate feeling and social/environmental factors that gives rise to such identities? I don’t know how possible it is, if it is at all possible, to. Also, in my essay, gender and brilliance. Maleness enables the explicit. it is also a culture, a culture of ...

A cousin’s burden — The Daily Portal ๛
http://thedailyportal.com/post/2013/07/23/a-cousins-burden
A reflection on family and fate. My first cousin. I’ve had twelve first cousins, all of whom I regard with affection, but as with most families, life and circumstance ensure that all is not equal on the family tree. Steve was, as such things turn out, first among my firsts. Fuck I’m near panic, but somehow hold it together. Do I let go of the tow rope and swim after him? He’s already a hundred yards behind me. I’ll never spot him from the water and what would I do if I did? We’re almost two miles offshor...
