Day 29- no alarm today. Staying at Durminiento Private Alburque for 10 euros, very nice. Town sits on top of hill and we have patio that overlooks town and surrounding hills. But remember how I said far more men then women on Camino, well in our room there is 7 men and me, and based on siesta time, the snoring tonite will be impressive! Day 30 – Lites go out before…. You finish your business in bathroom, before you get down the stairs. Lites are mostly on very short timers, leaving you to blindly try to turn them back on in the dark. We were not happy leaving later yesterday so we left at 6:30. Much more commercial now as many more pilgrims do the last 100km. From this point forward we are told you must get two stamps a day on your pilgrim passport to verify you actually walked it. Day 31- 15.4 miles to Palas de Rei. Fairly easy rambling miles today, cloudy with intermittent sunshine. Stopped in Gonzar for breakfast, the boys had bocadillas and I had a tasty cake- torta de Santiago with my cafe con leche, then we met up again at lunch in Portos. We are now in habit of making reservations for next nite as soon as we arrive at our place for day. Bill does this as he always arrives first! Good nite Ponytails (that is me). Day 35 – we arrived in Santiago. We walked about 13 miles to Santiago, initially hilly and wooded then hilly city streets. We are proud and grateful that we made this journey. After arriving and checking into Airus Nunes Hotel, great location, with my balcony with view of cathedral, we showered then headed to pilgrim’s office to receive our certificate for completion of the Camino. Day – 34 Arrival at Cathedral in Santiago. 789 km, 490 miles of walking. Wow. What a great feeling to have finished this bucket list trip with my husband and brother.
