Once Upon a Step: MOBOT Lantern Festival
http://onceuponastep.blogspot.com/2015/08/mobot-lantern-festival.html
Once Upon a Step. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. It took us a few summers to get around to it, but we made it to the Lantern Fest at the botanical gardens and it was lovely. We are lucky to have so many amazing things to see and do in this city. I understand it's still running nightly for a few more weeks. Go! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Once Upon a Step: April 2015
http://onceuponastep.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Once Upon a Step. Sunday, April 19, 2015. Vernal warmth has awakened the earth breathing up a new season and old habits. Since my kids have not yet developed the skill of dressing for the weather, I've hidden the sweaters and freed the shorts from their off season tubs. The first scoops of frozen custard have crossed our lips. Ben, on the brink of teen hood attended his first middle school. We dismantled the deck, diving into this season's marital test. Our tires are pumped. I see the Auch! How do you wa...

http://onceuponastep.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Once Upon a Step. Thursday, December 25, 2014. Joy to the World. We finally collected the 250th cake. We saved the arch for last and it was tricky to get with all the construction. We celebrated with cupcakes. Gigi and I made Christmas cookies. Gigi left reindeer food in the yard on Christmas eve. Carols before Christmas Eve Mass. Post Mass dinner with Papa Natale letters from the kids hidden beneath Jason's plate. Telling the Christmas Story. 2014 Santa holding cake. Opening one gift each Christmas Eve.

Once Upon a Step: A Glance Back
http://onceuponastep.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-glance-back.html
Once Upon a Step. Thursday, July 16, 2015. Sometimes I'm not sure how we did it, but not doing it was never an option. We cried and ranted and leaned on others. We prayed and played and begged for help. And we figured it out. Home from the Hospital. Now what? Leaving for work was necessary torture. So obvious looking at this now. Didn't see it then. There is a baby in this picture. Meeting his Great Grandmother, Ruth. Our evenings went like this. First trip to Grandma and Papa's. January 5, 2016 at 10:00...

Once Upon a Step: August 2015
http://onceuponastep.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Once Upon a Step. Sunday, August 30, 2015. Lest one think all we do around here is wait for reasons to see specialists, we've made a few end of summer memories that fall under the category of "way more fun than needles". I took in some light hearted outdoor theater with my BFF. Gigi crammed for Meet the Teacher Morning. In the family room. Because breathing is fun. We had our last ice cream cone. What kind of ice cream cone was that again? Jason proved he still knows the importance of woo. Jason had a fe...

Once Upon a Step: November 2014
http://onceuponastep.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Once Upon a Step. Sunday, November 23, 2014. Alex often supports Ben during his treatments. More often I'm finding Gigi in the pile as well. Ben was treated to a mystery surprise. I don't know how, but he received a get well letter from the St. Louis Cardinals. It was a truly bright spot in a crummy time for him. We're taking things one. At dinner Gigi offered, "Next time I'll have a pickle sandwich but without pickles. I don't like pickles.". But I'm not sick! Good, then you can clean up the toys. I don...

Once Upon a Step: Health, Hearth, and Hope
http://onceuponastep.blogspot.com/2015/08/health-hearth-and-hope.html
Once Upon a Step. Monday, August 3, 2015. Health, Hearth, and Hope. Almost as tall as Gramma. After my skin biopsy helped solidify the theory that Ben and I share some wonky disease process we redoubled our efforts to get the raw data from the whole exome sequencing into the hands of the doctors that may be able to translate them and have made headway. So now we wait for the transaction to be complete and the hieroglyphic genes to be elucidated. I'm not holding my breath. Jason and his uncle, Bill. May y...
