Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Strange fungi were everywhere, in all sorts of colors and sizes and shapes. Beautiful butterflies flitted about, almost never landing for more than an instant. A completely bizarre spider, whose body was flattened like a big tick, managed a complex web next to the trail. A large weevil stood motionless on a tree trunk. A strange spiky pupa case hung from a thread, waving in the little breezes. The first 2 photos looks like REI catalog :). I want to see the dance!

Friday, June 13, 2008. This morning we went to a botanical garden in a larger biological reserve called the Jardim Botanico Adolpho Ducke. Ducke was an Austrian naturalist and conservationist in Brazil in the 1940s and 1950s who came to be prominent enough to have a reserve named after him. Wednesday, June 4, 2008. The spot we're going to is on the Rio Juma; you can find that river to the south of Manaus in the image below. We think we will be staying somewhere on the large lake on the north end of the river. I'm not really sure what to expect; it could be very good, or it could be very bad. Either way, it will be very expensive! You are the best husband ever! You actually listen to your lovely wife! I like the photos. The couples look nice. Cute kitty too! June 4, 2008 at 10:40 PM.

Thursday, June 12, 2008. I also went to the supermarket again, and since Keewi requested it, here are some photos of the supermarket. Not terribly exciting; it's a pretty typical supermarket. Fairly large Asian food section, which is interesting since we've seen no Asian people and no Asian restaurants in Manaus whatsoever; I'm not sure who is buying the miso and the wacky Japanese snacks!
