Everyday life of my family. Sunday, May 4, 2008. A Farewell Vietnamese Style. My friend Jade's parents and siblings came over to our house on the last evening of their stay in Tokyo. We cooked and had a great feast of Vietnamese food! Cooking with all of Jade's family was so much fun. It made me so happy working with them in the kitchen. It reminded me so much of cooking with my mom and sister! Jade's wonderful mom rolling cha gio (fried spring roll). Jade preparing fried tofu in tomato chutney. Jake, Ma...

Everyday life of my family. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Kids Say the Darndest Things! Just tonight Autumn lifted up her shirt and pointed to her pot belly and said, "baby boy." She recently figured out that there was a baby boy in my belly, now she's thinking she has a baby boy in hers! Thanks Ethan. I still love you! I suppose I set myself up for that comment! Everyday life of my family. Saturday, January 26, 2008. Tokyo International Quilt Festival. It was my day off today not that I get them often and I decided to do something really girlie by attending the international quilt show. It was a lot of fun! There were hundreds of amazing exhibits. I've included some of my favorites below. Each piece is literally a work of art. Talking about detail, these Japanese gals get into their quilting! There are detail pictures of some of the quilts pictured below.

Everyday life of my family. Thursday, November 4, 2010. They are very kind, generous, and hospitable people that made me feel that I had always known them. I really felt at home there and it was so hard to say goodbye to them. I miss them all ready! I also enjoyed being with my cousins, a lot of them are my kids' age. I taught them how to play "Go Fish" one night and we had a lot of laughs during several rounds of cards. My young cousins took Ethan and me out on boats on the rice paddies several ...I rea...

Everyday life of my family. Tuesday, January 1, 2008. It was sad to spend Christmas so far away from family, but we made the best of it. The kids had a lot of fun, especially opening their presents. Our day was spent passing out gifts to neighbors, cooking our roast beast, napping and spending a quiet evening at home. The kids posing for a cheery pre-holiday photo. Although Ethan, feeling less than cheery, is feeling more like the Grinch! First Date.In a While. After almost six months living out of our s...
