Bender's Blog: January 2008
http://benders-blog.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Whatever is on the top of the stack. Friday, January 25, 2008. ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN CODE COVERAGE ALREADY! Sorry about that, I just need to rant a little. Here's what's got me so upset; TDD is a great cool thing. Everybody should be doing it. It's just the best thing since sliced bread, fluffy puppies and free Wi-Fi as Starbucks all rolled into one. But there is an evil specter lurking that is threatening to ruin it all. Here's where I get frustrated with peoples attitudes to code coverage (henceforth re...

Whatever is on the top of the stack. Monday, October 29, 2007. If Youre Reading This, It Means Im Dead. That's right, dead-tired of not having my own website! I am now the proud owner of JamesCBender.com. Although like the second Death Star, this site is not yet fully operational. However, thanks to the magic of Microsoft Silverlight. You will soon be seeing the most elaborate Under Construction page the net has ever known! Posted by James Bender. Labels: Shameless self promotion. Posted by James Bender.
Bender's Blog: November 2007
http://benders-blog.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Whatever is on the top of the stack. Thursday, November 08, 2007. As an unbridled capitalist, I never thought I would be siding with a union of any kind. I've never been a member of a union and have never desired to be. Don't get me wrong, I think there was a time for unions. But we don't have children working in coal mines anymore. And from my point of view the unions have succumbed to the very greed they claim to rail against. Anyway, this wide availability of high-speed Internet made high quality vide...

Whatever is on the top of the stack. Friday, February 22, 2008. How WCF Guy packs. So, Brian Prince. Is leaving our company for Microsoft, and he's not the only one packing his stuff! Just so happens this is happening at a time when the whole company is moving to swanky new digs on the other side of the freeway. Trust me, it's nicer than it sounds. By way of documenting this, Brian has started a little Meme; how does insert characteristic of you choice guy pack. Posted by James Bender. How WCF Guy packs.

The Todd on Tech: Why we went Kanban
http://toddkaufman.blogspot.com/2011/08/why-we-went-kanban.html
The Todd on Tech. Thursday, August 11, 2011. Why we went Kanban. I don’t think any single process is the best fit for all teams. Teams and projects using Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, or any other custom process you can think of have been successful in the past. In my opinion, the most important thing to keep in mind is that the process should be constantly evolving, similar to the software that you are building. Track output, not arbitrary numbers. Planning sessions are no substitute for conversations.

The Todd on Tech. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. My good friend Jeff. Tagged me to blog my goals for the year. I'm glad he gave me a little inspiration for this as my personal goals are something that's been floating around in my head for some time. With the exception of the first two they are in no order. Here they are, etched in the annals of the internet. 1) Delight my wife. 2) Be a better father to my 2 girls. 3) Exceed the expectations of every customer I come in contact with. 4) Blog every other week.

The Todd on Tech. Friday, July 29, 2011. Myth #1: Indian Developers are Subpar. Myth #2: Communication Will be Easy. Everyone speaks English right? Well at least a country that was colonized by England speaks English, right? Myth #3: Cultural Differences are not that Wide. I knew that there would be cultural differences but I really had no idea how different the people are here from back home. I had brushed up on the differences with a great book, Speaking of India. The Todd on Tech. Saturday, August 22, 2009. Interviewing Tip #3 - Focus on Fundamentals. Apologies for the significant delay, but I wanted to pick up the interviewing tips to get at least two more topics off my chest before turning to other posts. I've at times let people slide in an interview without much pressure on their foundational knowledge, but no more. I could care less at this point if you know whether SQLException is a Checked or Runtime exception in Java. You better be able to talk th...I am ...

Comma or dash between my minutes? 1) Download Spring 2.5.5 and only use the Quartz 1.6.1 RC1 jar that is bundled within the lib directory of it. The Todd on Tech. Friday, October 30, 2009. About 6 years ago I began my first consulting assignment with the idea that I would bounce around from client to client, build my network, and begin to determine what type of company I wanted to work for.
