Tribute to a friend. It is with much sadness that I announced the passing of a dear friend of mine 12 months ago. Michael and I became "e-pals" soon after I began to research my family history. I miss our regular emails that were always having a dig at each other over our respective "countries" sporting successes or lack of. My thoughts are still with his family and I continue to miss him dearly.

Bengal Archaeology
For centuries, a 30-ft mound spread over 1,300 sq ft, has stood at Bamunpukur, a village near Mayapur. The locals call it Ballal Dhipi, named after Ballal Sen, of the Sen dynasty, who ruled Bengal in the late 12th Century AD. It was only in the late 1970s that the mound attracted the attention of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Ballal Dhipi can be reached via Krishnagore. It is best to take a morning train. Get off at Krishnagore station and take a rickshaw to the bus terminus.
