As you know, we’re in the middle of the rainy season, which could pose some problems. But the rain, gracias a dios, seems only to fall at night now. Hopefully it’ll keep that rhythm. Speaking of being happy, I'm thrilled to report that I have deposited a check for the full amount that you all donated to the project. Unfortunately, the banks here require 21 days to process large, foreign checks, so we won't be able to touch the money until June 25. But I am a patient man. And Salvadorans are a patient people. So we'll wait. Who would do the shopping? Who would be in charge of the tools?

Yay, hooray, and other joyful noises! The plan is to attend the Tonga Research Association conference July 11-14, then go on an expedition to find the best place for my fieldwork. Yippee! I'll also be spending a little time in New Zealand at the end of my trip, doing some very important research on the best in sauvignon blancs, mussels, and all the other wonders the country has to offer. Support education in rural West Africa! The Benin Education Fund (BEF) is a grassroots organization run primarily by volunteers. We provide scholarships and educational support to needy but promising students from rural. Where b asic high school expenses exceed $150/year even though the average annual income is less than $700. Since 1998, we have reached over 6000 students. During the 2016-2017 school year alone, 90 high school students. Stayed in school thanks to BEF scholarships. About 2/3 are girls.
