Est 2002 - BRINGING YOU THE VIEWS OF TESSADOM. Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Before the hashtag, there was 'Acception'. Acception' was solicited by Gillian Polack, who was specifically hunting stories dealing with cultural baggage. Being equal parts immigrant and coloniser in a colonised land, it was very much a theme close to my heart. Baggage has had a turbulent life as a book, and after much heartbreak and man obstacles, it has finally returned. The Before-Hashtag audience I daresay may be relieved that th...

Est 2002 - BRINGING YOU THE VIEWS OF TESSADOM. Tuesday, December 16, 2014. The sunrise is too pretty. I haven't slept, but my adrenal gland is putting in the hard yards, so I still feel mildly lucid. They asked me if I was surprised by the response to the hashtag. As though anyone but a marketing department could be anything other than bewildered by having an idea go viral. Of course I wanted it to be picked up – why tweet it at all otherwise? 8211; but this is electrifying and not a little alarming.

Est 2002 - BRINGING YOU THE VIEWS OF TESSADOM. Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Sometimes, I just have to whinge. Only the poor souls who have this blog on a feed reader will notice this post. We moved on Saturday. Nothing bad. Happened, except it was much longer and stressful than anticipated, and ended up costing twice what I'd expected. Certainly hadn't expected it to take in excess of 6 hours. But that's Coogee for you. No parking access for movers, and nothing but tight twisty little stairs. Toilet no l...

Trentonomicon: These next two weeks
http://trentonomicon.blogspot.com/2009/11/these-next-two-weeks.html
Saturday, November 14, 2009. These next two weeks. Are nose to the grindstone sort of weeks. I'm close to finishing book two, which has been a perilous and fun endeavour, and I reckon isn't a bad book at all, and may even be a good book in which bad things happen. I spent the last two days in Sydney which was great fun. Firstly the launch of X6 of which Cat Sparks writes about here. I also went to Hachette's offices, home of Orbit Australia, and met the wonderful staff there, and had coffee with my publi...

Friday, December 11, 2009. A Little on Process - Part Two. I write like people shoot films, quite often without any idea of what goes where, just trusting that it does. And sometimes it doesn’t, but usually I’m heading in one direction, even if the scenes don’t appear to at first. I’m at this last stage with Managing Death. Then, some time early next year, I’ll get my structural edits, and that will be the real test. Whether it makes sense to someone else, whether it works, whether the pacing i...Which s...

Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Never Try and Move House on the Wettest day in Decades. Well, we were supposed to move house today, and tomorrow I was going to blog about the whole thing. The last few months have been rather dislocating to say the least. So, it's been head down, getting the work done that's needed to be done, and waiting, surrounded by a wall of boxes, until we moved out and into our new place. Links to this post. Trentonomicon: August 2009

Saturday, August 22, 2009. Structural Edits and a Week of Hard Work Ahead. This was a week of distractions, as I tried to get my head around my structural edits. It wasn't so much that I disagreed with them - in fact I think I'm very very much on the same page(s) (and pages) with my editors - but how to get started. I opted, as I often do, with the sidewise approach. A book of post it notes, a notepad, and lots of scrawling on the manuscript as well. Have just started watching the Wire. Links to this post.
