History of the Bensen Days Event. It is said that Chuck Beaty, Ed VanHouten and some other gyroplane enthusiasts attended a Curtis Pitts Day fly-in at a grass strip at Plymouth, FL in 1972. VanHouten asked, "Why don't we hold a Bensen Days event? Chuck Beaty looked into the feasability of such an event and found reasonable interest. So, on as near as possible to April 1 (Dr. Bensen's birthday), the first official Bensen Days event was held at Dunnellon, FL in 1973.

EARLY RESERVATION FOR AIRPORT CAMPSITES. Begins January 1 for Sunstate Wing and Rotor Club members. Accomodations At Bensen Days. Porta-toilets are available throughout the event and camping area. The Airport Office also has an air conditioned lounge sitting area with rest rooms. Water is available throughout the camping area and a private shower trailer with plenty of hot water is available for campers.
