Skip to primary content. A Smooth Ride, Straight Into Night. July 29, 2012. At The Pentagon stop, he made another announcement. “This is the Yellow Line train to Huntington.” His voiced lifted at the “–ton”. Cheerfully, smoothly. “Also stopping at The Crystal City, and The Washington-Reagan National Airport.”. 8220;How do you like it? 8221; I asked. It’s a question I’d often put to cab drivers. 8220;It’s alright. There’s money in it, if you’re willing to put in the hours.”. I told him I’ve heard ot...

Skip to primary content. October 1, 2012. Ilsan Lake Park – Photo by Seok Hwan Jeong under Creative Commons. It was the day before Chuseok, a holiday celebrating the harvest, and Will had generously invited me to spend it with his family. He was my roommate at the international dormitory where I was staying. A Southern Californian who had come to Korea to reconnect with his own language and culture, it would be a rare occasion for him as well. Early the next morning we carved a wide route around Seoul on...

Ben is a journalist hailing from Seattle who made his way to the East Coast by way of South Korea, China and points in between. October 1, 2012. Ilsan Lake Park – Photo by Seok Hwan Jeong under Creative Commons. Will’s uncle picked us up near the end of the line in Incheon. The Aloha Spirit | Road Notes

Skip to primary content. September 19, 2012. It happens almost every trip: not long after touching down in a place, I begin to imagine settling there — even for just a little while. I imagine what it would be like to walk the streets until they are familiar, to make. But I have never felt it quite as strongly as I did in Hawaii. Looking down on Honolulu from Diamond Head. Wiping out at Populars breaks off Waikiki. Photo courtesy of Greg Rose. Tako and Poke at Ono Seafood in Honolulu. Fill in your details...
Morning on Castle Hill, Budapest | Road Notes
https://bensroadnotes.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/castle-hill-budapest
Skip to primary content. Morning on Castle Hill, Budapest. January 2, 2012. Úri utca (Lords' street), Budapest. While I was thankful for many things we chanced upon during our trip, among them was a new spark of curiosity and a morsel of knowledge about this part of the world. I had a feeling that we would be returning — an urge, really, already developing. It would be warmer, I think, with foliage on the trees, and some time not too far away. This entry was posted in Budapest. January 2, 2012 at 10:33.

Saturday, May 9, 2015. Let me begin by saying I am in no way a salesman (or woman). I am a full-fledged introvert for whom small talk is akin to root canal in anxiety production. The story I am going to tell is true. No names have been changed since no one needs protecting. In 2012 I was in the best shape of my life. I spent almost two hours a day working out—running, lifting weights, doing Pilates and Pitaiyo. I ran two 5Ks, a 10K, and a half marathon all within eight months of turning 50. My daughter D...

Ben's Rock Shop
Ben's Rock Shop is closed. Ben's Rock Shop was a small store in Gettysburg owned and operated by Ben Hinks, and sold rocks, minerals, gemstones, and fossils. The rock shop was located inside Gettysburg Electronics and Gettysburg Christian Bookstore. The time has come for me to move on and find something else to do. I am very grateful for my customers, and thank you all for stopping in, even just to show off some rocks or talk.
