Site designed by Sherry. Vacations in Georgia State Parks. Vacations for the past 10 years have been to Georgia State Parks where residents of the state receive discounts on cabin rentals. In 2011, we decided to try a park in South Carolina (still within a 2-hour drive), and visited it again in 2012. Crossing creeks and leading to waterfalls. A short drive from the cabin brought us to the historic Oconee Town site, where we explored the buildings. And hiked to a beautiful waterfall. Black Rock State Park.

However, because of the frustration in trying to get plantings established and grown to a mature size when they were constantly grazed by deer, a wildlife fence was installed in summer 2011 to encourage these lovely creatures to dine elsewhere.
