The Bento Effect: Why Bento?
http://www.thebentoeffect.com/2011/09/why-bento.html
Saturday, September 17, 2011. The following blog was orignally published on my other blog, but I wanted to share it here, as well. There are always those memories that stick with you, some are good and others are not. For instance, I remember learning to tie my shoes. I was in kindergarten and on a trip to Colorado with my family. I practiced and practiced, finally getting it. I was so excited to come back and tell my teacher what I had learned. She wasn’t excited. She didn’t seem to care. I know I am no...

The Bento Effect: The Bento Effect
http://www.thebentoeffect.com/2011/09/bento-effect.html
Thursday, September 22, 2011. When I decided to start creating bentos, a little change happened within me. I put down my work and all other distractions and thought out Sophie’s meal. I didn’t just throw some food on her highchair tray, I took time putting a meal together for her. It was comprised of things she has eaten in the past, but this time it was balanced. Some of these shapes/animals she knew the word for before and others she did not. So, why am I calling my blog, “The Bento Effect? The small a...

The Bento Effect: Bento #15: Fish and bunnies
http://www.thebentoeffect.com/2011/09/bento-15-fish-and-bunnies.html
Thursday, September 29, 2011. Bento #15: Fish and bunnies. I finally was able to use my new boiled egg molds. I waited two weeks for these molds. I ordered them on ebay and the person I bought them from didn’t ship them until a few days after I asked why I hadn’t received them. They at least gave me a partial refund, but it still took two weeks. It was only supposed to take a couple of days. Oh well, I have them now! I will do a separate blog post with pictures and instructions on how to use them. Blackb...

The Bento Effect: Leaves and pumpkins
http://www.thebentoeffect.com/2011/09/bento-14.html
Thursday, September 29, 2011. Yesterday I did something I have never really done. I tried to cook. I mentioned in a previous post that I am slightly scared of cooking. I never do it. I really wanted Sophie to have some new foods in her bentos. A couple of weeks ago I purchased this. I had dreams of using it to create beautiful muffins and quiches. All of the dreams involved me convincing Michael to make these scrumptious items. As I was pondering the theme for Sophie’s bento, I felt stuck. I kept calling...

The Bento Effect: Bento Kits
http://www.thebentoeffect.com/p/bento-kits.html
If you are new to bento meals, you might be overwhelmed and not know where to begin. First, read my advice on getting started. After shopping all over town, looking for bento supplies, I decided that it would be nice if there were bento kits available to purchase. In fact, when I started sharing my bento photos I had friends ask me if there were kits to purchase. I am selling bento kits on etsy and will be adding more as I have the time. Some are themed, others are not. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Bento Effect: Muffin Mishap
http://www.thebentoeffect.com/2011/10/muffin-mishap.html
Saturday, October 1, 2011. So, I attempted to bake something else. It didn’t turn out well. I saw a recipe for berry muffins on another website. I thought it sounded tasty and I got the ingredients, so Michael would make them for Sophie. After I somewhat succeeded with the quiche, I felt quasi confident and decided that muffins would be a cinch. I began mixing the ingredients, triple checking every ingredient I dumped into the bowl. After combining everything else, I started to add the frozen berries.

The Bento Effect: October 2011
http://www.thebentoeffect.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 3, 2011. Halloween Muffin Tin Meal. Today is Muffin Tin Monday. I have never participated, but thought I would start. Today’s Muffin Tin Meal had a Halloween theme. If you have never heard of Muffin Tin Meal (MTM), you should go check out the Muffin Tin Mom. It is a fun way to serve your child a meal. I do the same concept a lot with trays. I picked up a couple of vintage muffin tins at an estate sale. I got both of them for 50 cents. She LOVES cheese, so I am surprised. I started to put ...
