My occasional outdoor adventures
a bit further: Across Wales Walk
http://benwilderness.blogspot.com/p/across-wales-walk.html
My occasional outdoor adventures. I am going for a bit of a walk to raise some money for Oxford Transplant Foundation. And the Dorset Kidney Fund. The idea is to attempt the Across Wales Walk. In September 2010. 45 miles from the English/Welsh border to Aberystwyth on the coast in one day. If you would like to sponsor me I have got two JustGiving pages, one for each charity. Just Giving - Dorset Kidney Fund. Just Giving - Oxford Transplant Foundation. Thanks for your support. Not too long now. Things hav...

My occasional outdoor adventures. Of mice and drybags. The Llanbder horseshoe is a great long day walk in the Black Mountains. As I was there for an overnighter I decided to add a bit and cover some other unclimbed hills. Bothy etiquette says you should leave enough fuel for the next visitor. I didn't really feel I had done this so I packed up some of the rubbish others had left instead. It was a sad sight as I left in the morning carrying a bag of rubbish and an empty whiskey bottle, sobbing gen...I fol...

My occasional outdoor adventures. Sport Relief - What a relief. I have got a bit of a blogging backlog going on. My sense of order means I have to write up one of our previous adventures first. Will’s challenge for Sport Relief this year was to swim 400 metres, Bike 40 miles and run 4 miles from South Dorset to Somerset (where his grandparents live). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://benwilderness.blogspot.com/2012/06/mid-wales-travels.html
My occasional outdoor adventures. Over the last few years we have been making our way up Offas Dyke. Our Offa's Dyke trips. This year we decided to make a side trip to the Brecon Beacons. The next day we headed north to see what else mid Wales had to offer. Our next stop was the River Ifron near Abergwesyn. A beautiful spot where the river narrows and then opens out into a large pool before the ford at The Wash Pool. 26 November 2012 at 14:48. I wish I could go there too! View my complete profile. I have now had my transplant operation (in Aug 2007) and it has really turned things around for me. I am hoping to use this site for my outdoor adventures (mainly hill walking and off-road running) and transplant information. There was an error in this gadget. M&G Go For A Walk. Adventures in a Strange World. Exploration on a Small Scale. Category Archives: Gear Reviews. February 21, 2015 4:48 pm. Water filters under review. Drinksafe Systems Travel Tap. Unfortunately things got worse after returning from the trip, the filter screws into the cap, but on removing the filter the silicone holding the threaded hole gave way meaning replacing the filter was not longer an option unless I wanted to get the Silicone out. This made the whole thing useless. I would like to think I...It ap...

Thursday, 13 May 2010. Cuckoo Rock, Combshead Tor and Down Tor 12/5/2010. Wednesday has become a day for going on evening. Stroll with good friends, bought about by the climbing wall closing for the summer. So this wednesday myself , George, Anna and Mary headed out from burrator following the track past the ruined buildings we ventured along with the two dogs leading the way, heading for Cuckoo rock to check out the bouldering options, a trip with the climbing shoes could be called for next time. A coup...

Friday, 3 September 2010. Belstone to Watern, Wild camp 27-08-2010. Wednesday evening and work was over for the week, the joys of fighting my way through the Plymouth rush hour traffic was set out in front of me, before hitting the open moorland roads heading north to Barnstaple and onwards to Ilfracombe. Thursday was Taz walking day for me with a bimble round Ilfracombe. A bonus to taking the route around the outskirts of the moors, was coming across the fairy's house. From here it was an easy to naviga...

Wednesday, 15 September 2010. An excuse to start running again. It seems to be having the desired effect on Taz, just got to wait and see what effect it has on me, most likely none. 26 November 2012 at 14:44. The sunset looks perfect. Oh to have someone to enjoy the view with. It looks really romantic don’t you think? Thanks for sharing this brilliantly executed shot. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. DW's ramblings: Bank Holiday Weekend Wild Camp Part 2
http://dw-rambling.blogspot.com/2010/05/bank-holiday-weekend-wild-camp-part-2.html
Monday, 31 May 2010. Bank Holiday Weekend Wild Camp Part 2. Sundays walk was to be far more pleasant, being able to see where you were walking to was a rather novel compared to saturdays adventures. Nine O'clock and we ready and making a move skirting round the hill side and the a short climb up to Cut hill and the peat pass before descending down to the west dart, looking down into Sandy hole pass, then heading on to the waterfall for a short break and a few photo's to be taken. Sundays camp spot was to...

Thursday, 29 April 2010. Fox Tor Mire and Childs Tomb Bimble. Jaunt was a bimble. Through Fox Tor mires and on out to C hilds. Tomb, with the walking history book called Shamus, The weather made a pleasant change, no clear blue sky's just overcast clouds to add character. And atmosphere to the moors, and the threat of rain so a day to be prepared to get wet, or dress for the conditions, no trail shoes today for fear of ending hip deep in a section of what is renowned. Poke with a walking pole to test gro...
DW's ramblings: Help the Hero's sponsored walk. 10-6-10
http://dw-rambling.blogspot.com/2010/06/help-heros-sponsored-walk-10-6-10.html
Friday, 11 June 2010. Help the Hero's sponsored walk. 10-6-10. A walk i didn't have to plan, or lead, just turn up walk and give moral support to those slightly less used to walking long distances, the supposed 10 mile route was only a fraction longer by about a third, in reality it was 13.2 miles. Starting out from Mount Edgcombe and walking through the rather splendid gardens. So fueled up it was onwards and upwards to penlee point and the old watch hut. From here its along the coast to Rame head.

Monday, 31 May 2010. Bank Holiday Weekend Wild Camp. This trip had been in the diary for some time, fingers had been crossed for some nice weather with taking Louise out for her first wild camping trip with me. As per usual with bank holiday weekends the weather was less than favourable at least on the Saturday,. By ten thirty i was sat in the old quarry car park at two bridges, looking at a rather badly parked and abandoned car( Louise's) as she too had arrived early but headed for the pub for a coffee.

My occasional outdoor adventures. My first event for quite a while, there were two main reasons for signing up for this one. Firstly to start the build up to my main aim of the year and secondly to introduce my new training partner to LDWA events. I will get to the plans for the rest of the year later. Great support, food and weather. What is next then, well having said how great the LDWA events I have entered some different events this year. The Wye One Way 50. Better start getting the weekly mileage up.

Photos speak volumes. They tell stories, share emotions, convey thoughts. If there was ever one thing everyone should do, it’s travel the world. The people, the places, the smells and the memories. These truly are, the essence of life. The people are the most enjoyable aspect of travelling. I found people from all walks of life, who have been dealt very different hands. One thing resounds – we’re all the same, we all want the same things, love is love.
