Sometimes when reading I see the writer using a dash, but have never used it myself. I read that the dash is a informal device that is fun to use when writing. English 1010- Still sleeping. Sunday, March 22, 2009. I would have to say that the book Complications has some boring parts too it. I really enjoyed the stories about the cases that the surgeons came across. They were interesting. The chapter titled "The computer and the Hernia Factory" put me to sleep, and took a lot of effort to read. The last part of book one made me really think about being more careful. Apostrophes are used to make nouns possessive, to show ownership. When nouns are singular, we generally add an apostrophe and the letter "S" to indicate possession:.
