Bert's Bird Blog: a birding miscellany with lots of pictures. In june 2010 I made a short trip to Finnmark. I visited Håvard Husebø who was studying Red-throated- and Meadow Pipits during spring. We found five singing Arctic Warblers during our one day visit at Pasvik. One singing male showed well near the Church of Neiden. Arctic Warbler at Svartnes. Vardø at 02:00 am. The famous church at Nesseby. Golfjellet is the southernmost spot to find Siberian Jay. Siberian Jay june 2009 Golfjellet.

Both sold.But I bought a pair of 15x56 binoculars and a new 300 mm lens. Both waiting for me in the Netherlands next week. It can be compared with Fair Isle, the Scillies, Ouessant, Helgoland and even Vlieland. This is probably because Utsira is small, isolated and situated along the southwestern coast of Norway, about 16 kilometers off Haugesund. Below an impression of the island. On monday I took the opportunity to meet my brother Sybrand and Lazar Brinkhuizen for a one-day trip around Groningen. Latest bird news from Øygarden, Hordaland, Norway. Thursday, August 06, 2015. Herdlevær 04 August 2015 - Some more waders and other autumn migratuion. Southerly winds and overcast. Had several species of waders including a couple of Whimbrel småspove. And a Golden Plover heilo. As well as some small flocks of unidentified waders heading south over the sea. Other migrants included a few Swift tårnseiler. And at least one Great Skua storjo. A flock of around 20 Fieldfare gråtrost. Also looked like migrants.

Latest bird news from Øygarden, Hordaland, Norway. Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Tjeldstø 25 August 2015 - The one that got away? Light easterly winds, overcast with occasional light drizzle. Mixed flock of Ruff brushane. And Golden Plover heilo. Spent an hour in the reserve at Tjeldstø which proved frustratingly productive - a wader slightly bulkier than the Redshank rødstilk. Plodding onwards I picked up the usual selection of waders - including over 30 Golden Plover heilo. And a few Ringed Plover sandlo.
