The complete project proposal, May 11th 2011; 51 pages PDF file 6 MB]. Why are total economic values not compelling? What could really work to motivate publics and politics into action for biodiversity? Scientific research can help address this challenge by means of a comprehensive rethinking of what value and motivation actually are for people. On this insight then, practical guidelines for methods and languages with greater motivational capacity can be built. To establish what (economic and alternative...

Is your spatial data in two (or more) different coordinate systems? No problem! – Alejandra's research: landscape ecology & more!
https://alemoranordonez.wordpress.com/2015/11/11/is-your-spatial-data-in-two-or-more-different-coordinate-systems-no-problem
Alejandra's research: landscape ecology and more! Is your spatial data in two (or more) different coordinate systems? To perform calculations all layers involved in the analysis have to specify the same coordinate system. If they don t you need to reproject. Them to make sure that the calculations are accurate. This sounds very complicated so let s start from the basics. First we have to familiarise ourselves with some elements of the ARCGIS interface. When you load a layer in ARCGIS (Add Data tool).

Alejandra's research: landscape ecology and more! Are you a GIS -Geographic Information System. Have you ever asked yourself any of the following questions? How the world is viewed in a GIS. Source: Geographic Information System Basics v1.0. I only need to use/extract GIS data or run spatial analysis for a small – but essential- part of my research/work but I don t know how to start. What on Earth are coordinate systems. And how do I know which one should I use. Where can I source GIS data? Being a self-...

Alejandra's research: landscape ecology and more! Extract stats from a given area using spatial data. How much did it rain? In this blog post you will learn how to extract stats from spatial data. To respond to questions like: how much did it rain in a given catchment last year? What is the dominant land use/forest type in a given area (e.g. region)? What is the total population of a given area? Why is this type of data/information important in Ecology? In my case, I obtained the layer delimiting the bou...
