Our Urban Homestead: January 2012
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 9. I am still figuring this new year out. I was planning heavily for lots of freezing weather and to my surprise we have spent the majority of this new year out of doors! Our biggest garden ever on our own. Plans to celebrate. Not only the boys birthdays that are coming up, but the seasons and our days. Plans to be thankful for the world we exist within. Plans to watch the clouds, collect pine cones and build nests. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Our Urban Homestead: February 2013
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 19. Cave of the Mounds. The boys and some stalactites. Walking the thinnest path in the place. Maybe a column has formed here? Otherwise just stalactites and stalagmites. For sure a column in the middle. Asher has plans to work here when he gets older and attend their summer camps. Truly remarkable place to enjoy. Always 54 degrees, and not crowded in the winter. Saturday, February 16. Knitting, knitting and more knitting. A skein of green turned into a couple of hats for my boys. It is...

Our Urban Homestead: September 2012
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 5. The boys figured out quickly that their little saw was no match for the boards and moved onto sticks, then realized green wood from a weak shrub was harder to cut than dried sticks that had been lying around for months. This evening after dinner, I sen them outside for their last ten minutes and was surprised to open the back door to see they had brought out the colored pencils, their tiny notepad and an Illinois bird book opened to the barn swallow and set them selves up to draw!

Our Urban Homestead: March 2012
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 15. For the boys birthday we made an addition to our outside playscape. I have been trying to figure out a swing of sorts and the tire swing landed right in our laps. Uncle Zak needed new tires, he was at our house, brought a tire home and voila, magically on Asher's birthday the tire was hanging from the tree. Monday, March 12. We are fully under construction, in six weeks I should be able to share the finished product! Hope you have as much fun going to work this week as River is. Onion...

Our Urban Homestead: July 2011
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 30. The boys are getting pretty good at chasing butterflies and catching them being careful not to actually touch them but to put them in an observation glass. So much to discover around the yard. As our days are numbered here, we are trying to enjoy every last inch of this place that has been home for so many wonderful years. Thursday, July 28. Tuesday mornings are busy around here cooking for friends. This recipe was a challah recipe that is impossible to mess up! Thursday, July 21.

Our Urban Homestead: December 2011
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 13. Every year the boys and I man=ke an effort to decorate a tree outside for wildlife. This year we are even doing it without scrambling on solstice! We set out to make bird cookies last week and dehydrated citrus for some color. We were joined by some friends. Which is always nice . Mixed up some flour, oats, bird seed and whole eggs and then cut the dough before cooking it. And then off to the trees a couple of days later. A wonderfully sunny day. Monday, December 5. Is just a lovely...

Our Urban Homestead: Pictures on the Wall
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2013/02/pictures-on-wall.html
Friday, February 15. Pictures on the Wall. It does seem that framed art is one of the last things you take care of when you move. We did a decent job getting most things up quickly, but the pile of frames in my bedroom closet and box of pictures 15 months later seems to say otherwise. My needle felted Wisconsin, inspired by this map. I love needle felting, such a fun medium for making pictures and my brains has a few more ideas. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our Urban Homestead: Fall Explorations
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2013/09/fall-explorations.html
Sunday, September 29. Devil's Lake State Park has been a favorite of our this summer. The beach is so approachable, shallow for a long time and it was mosquito free when our yard was overtaken. This makes it an extra special place to take good friends and I look forward to many more fall hikes up the bluff, as both boys can walk all the way up on their own (with minimal whining and the promise of a lollipop or honey stick at the top). A view of Lake Wisconsin. Thank you fall visitors!

Our Urban Homestead: February 2012
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 29. My pictures at the top are spotty, I am having some camera issues and need a clean. But a beautiful day. Finished with a walk by the river, throwing in sticks and acorns and finding fish scales. My brother in law returned (sign ignorer :) at the end of a morning snow a few days later and I am sorry that I wasn't there to see this beauty. Such a dynamic place the river and it's surrounding habitats. Friday, February 17. Running Into the Woods: 2.10. Monday, February 13. I can't bel...

Our Urban Homestead: The City Museum
http://zomboracz.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-city-museum.html
Friday, March 8. We are fortunate to have family in St. Louis, and every time we visit, we find another amazing place. That city is loaded with so many awesome adventures and while I am not a big city girl, I never feel overwhelmed by St. Louis. Our trip down in February, was the boys first trip to the City Museum!
