JJ's BJJ Blog. Jay's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blog. BJJ vs. MMA. August 3, 2010. For the past week I’ve had the interesting experience to help a woman – Ashley Weakley (remember that name! My mind understands – she has a fight coming up, it needs to be real. It was gonna be tough though. So we start and I basically just work to pass. Whack! She smacked me pretty good. Whack! Ok – so that’s how it’s gonna be huh? The truth is – being on the bottom sucks! So that’s how I want to play – work quickly ...You are c...

JJ's BJJ Blog. Jay's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blog. July 24, 2010. Worked some no-gi with Ashley today – she’s getting ready for an upcoming MMA fight in a tournament that she’s competing in. She’s a freak (in a good way) – very strong, cardio for days, and absolutely without fear. She’s only been training BJJ since late last year, so her ground game isn’t great, but she is working on it. It was an interesting roll. I played my half-guard game (top and bottom) and that worked fine. I noticed 2 issues:. So imp...

JJ's BJJ Blog. Jay's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blog. BJJ vs. MMA. Guard Passing with Paulo Guillobel. August 18, 2010. Tonight we worked a technique that I really need to remember. It was a simple Americana – but the key for me was how we got there. This is how:. In basic side control – reach over with the arm that is under his head and put my elbow over his bicep and grab his belt and squeeze. Slide my top leg over to mount (slide it in front of his legs). Keep the pressure down on his inside arm. Fight Sonne...

JJ's BJJ Blog. Jay's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blog. Guard Passing with Paulo Guillobel. August 20, 2010. Last night Paulo Guillobel came to teach class for Dalla due to Dalla’s injury. It’s always neat to be a part of the BJJ community and see how the top-level guys get along so well and help each other out. I certainly wasn’t surprised when Dalla explained that they grew up together and had trained together for a long time. It seems like Dalla knows everyone in BJJ! JJ's BJJ Blog. Jay's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blog. BJJ vs. MMA. July 29, 2010. The word for tonight is: pressure. I didn’t do well drilling it or rolling when I’d get to side. I really need to work on this. Ugh! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. Address never made public). JJ's BJJ Blog. Jay's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blog. Guard Passing with Paulo Guillobel. November 21, 2010. I love Irvine. The town is so clean and they have the biggest Whole Foods ever! I could live in that store! Today is the second week of the Competition Team Training. Last week sucked (for me). It’ll probably suck more today and even more as time goes on. I’ll get my butt kicked, tap a lot, and be worn out. But, I’ll be better for it! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. I hope Rafa Mende...
