Friday, May 30, 2014. What They're Working On. In no particular order:. One day after harping on the kids to get the table set, I turned around to see Delsie taking matters into her own hands. She's also been right by my side to take lunch out to the field or help with odd jobs. Ruby's a budding little artist, that's what she wants to be when she grows up (just like Dalanie.) She is learning and growing in leaps and bounds. We quite enjoy our time together when the older two are at school. He's also been...

Saturday, September 13, 2014. The Watermelon Project 2014. Back on the 24th of April, the kids and I planted the watermelon and moved them upstairs to our south facing window. After the initial push to get them in the ground, we'd check on them occasionally and pull them out from under the plastic. And then before we knew it. . . we were starting to see baby watermelon! Dalanie still loves the bee stings. It was time to set up our stand. We couldn't wait for the Mountain Dew guy to leave because he reall...

Plain and Simple: Back By Popular Demand
http://karisahillman.blogspot.com/2015/04/back-by-popular-demand.html
Thursday, April 30, 2015. Back By Popular Demand. The staff in the office assured us that the elementary kids were so excited for FFAD. There is so much potential for the event. Corn station: Focused on teaching the three types of corn; sweet, field, and popcorn. Played a popcorn game, planted a corn seed, and popped popcorn. Farm safety: The object was to educate kids on the potential hazards of sharing the road with farm equipment and dangers associated with machinery. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Plain and Simple: June 2014
http://karisahillman.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 20, 2014. Grandma and Grandpa Hillman's dog, Maggie, had puppies. Despite them being awful cute and several attempts, the kids could not convince me that we needed a cow dog for our family pet. On the last day of March, we got this freak snowstorm. I was working with a gal and trying to get her to come to church. I went and helped muck the stall in their sheep barn and Dalanie tagged along. That was the only time I could get her to come. The growing puppies which Delsie absolutley adored.

Monday, April 28, 2014. Farmer For A Day. In Firth, athletics reign supreme. And for the high school kids, that's their only option as many programs have fallen by the wayside. I am so fond of the opportunities afforded me by the FFA, that I have taken a special interest in helping rejuvenate our local chapter. When time was running short and an ag day at the elementary that I dubbed " Farmer For A Day. Was going to have to wait until next year, I gladly volunteered to organize the event. We did the curl...

Plain and Simple: Type 3
http://karisahillman.blogspot.com/2015/05/type-3.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2015. This spring has become increasingly difficult with Dalanie. After all, she is so much like me and it's hard to parent yourself. My second born, a definite type III. I started reading and learning from Carol Tuttle's book, The Child Whisperer. There was no question which dominant type Dalanie is. So here were are looking for a baptism dress and starting to plan for it back in early spring. She doesn't want to wait for an explanation, she just wants to get busy doing something.

Plain and Simple: October 2014

Friday, October 31, 2014. I might be biased, but I think I had three of the cutest witches of the evening. I even dressed like a witch. It was quite easy since I had taken on the personna all week. ;). The Hillmans all congregated at Grandma's for a Halloween dinner of mummy dogs. Afterward, the kids could drink vampire blood to earn a special prize. Most of them had a hard time getting down Grandpa's V-8, but they all did it. A little more Halloween fun at breakfast time. And down at the school parade.

Plain and Simple: Spring Fever
http://karisahillman.blogspot.com/2015/04/spring-fever.html
Monday, April 27, 2015. Random stop by the ice-cream bus in April. How can the kids hear it miles away and they can't hear me when I'm in the same room as them? Ruby's frog friend. It kept the girls entertained one afternoon until Trigger got ahold of it's habitation. It's life was spared and I didn't have to be the one they were mad at for turning it loose. The trampoline has gotten lots of use this spring. I love that I can watch them playing from my kitchen windows. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Plain and Simple: August 2014
http://karisahillman.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 31, 2014. It's easy to document the bigger events in life, but there are so many small moments that make up our lives. We invited Cornia's to join us for an evening at Rose Pond: friend chicken and friendship. Delsie can't get enough of her vegetables, finally I just gave her the serving bowl. Don't be deceived. It was only 55 degrees, but in the spring the kids think it is stinking hot. Water is so fascinating. Ruby working on her knife skills. The girls and I volunteered at the Historica...
