Tuesday, 10 May 2011. This was my original inspiration, for the ruff idea. Using bondaweb to attatch the pieces of fabric to the ruff. These pieces of fabric are attached to a piece of cotton which was a full cirle which i cut the middle out of. Once i had stuck all the pieces of fabric to the cotton circle, i ironed cut out a piece of the gold netting and put it on top. I then added a a piece of gold fabric along the bottom and cut the bottom edge in scallop shapes. Labels: SDP002 Costume Development.

Thursday, 19 May 2011. 163;10.40 - Feathers. 163;650 - Cotton lycra. 163;150 - Plastic mask. 163;550 - Clay (to make the beaks). In TOTAL: £23.90. Stuff I already had:. Wadding for chest pad. Fabric for homemade feathers. Glue gun and glue. Fabric inks to paint the unitard. Acrylic paint for the beaks. Brown Dye to dye the cotton lycra, which was used to make the chest pad, hood and gloves. The Workshop suplied the Latex, whichw as used on the beaks. The unitards were provided by the dance school.

Monday, 2 May 2011. This project has been going smoothly so far although the deadline is coming up fast! I'm learning everyday as a designer and maker that the design changes everyday, as you collect the materials and bring everything together. For example whilst making the feathers I ran out of ridgeuline so I was searching trying to find some kind of replacement, because I wanted to carry on making feathers and not have to buy more ridgeuline. Finally I found a box of old straws!

Monday, 18 April 2011. Experimenting with making feathers. Making My Own Feathers. From a suggestion made to me by my tutor I have decided to make some of my own feathers for this project. It is a very basic technique although the result is very effective. To start I cut some ridgeuline into a small strip to represent the spine of the feather and to create stability. I. Cut into or wire brush the feather carefully to create the feather effect. A thin strip of ridgeline acts as the spine of the feather.
