Following is a sampling of my published articles and images:. Thursday, May 7, 2015. LEARN TO SAIL IN PARADISE. As seen in the May 2015 issue of SAILING MAGAZINE. Even Penelope stayed home in Troy when Ulysses sailed off . So often, one partner gets hooked on sailing, but their companion doesn’t; one has a boating background, while the other’s water-based activities are limited to the bath. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Everyone is familiar with the axiom, ‘Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach him to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”. But what happens when you teach a woman to fish ? Fishing is thrilling and fun in an indelible way. Most people can tell you the specifics of the first fish they caught: even if it was decades ago. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Upside Down Summer: Memories Unearthed
http://upsidedownsummer.blogspot.com/2015/02/memories-unearthed.html
The Upside Down Summer. Monday, February 16, 2015. Tonight I made soup (it has gotten that cold – after the weekend’s scorching weather) and seeing it is, technically, a holiday (although there’s no such thing as a holiday for a self-un-employed writer) I am taking the evening off; not stressing about the many deadlines stacking up like jets into LAX, or Christmas shoppers outside of Walmart . Well surely I have not had my dreams mocked to death by Time. There was an error in this gadget.
The Upside Down Summer: Bears, Burning pigs, and other wild-life
http://upsidedownsummer.blogspot.com/2013/11/bears-burning-pigs-and-other-wild-life.html
The Upside Down Summer. Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Bears, Burning pigs, and other wild-life. But we did, and as we finished dinner Eric, our house-mate and maintenance man, came home and joined us, and we found out he’d seen the same bear the prior weekend. Impressively huge and lumbering, the bear has been coming increasingly close to the house. Because he can. He is absolutely HUGE, with an acorn-stuffed belly that brushes the ground as he strolls across the valley. There was an error in this gadget.

The Upside Down Summer: May 2013
http://upsidedownsummer.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
The Upside Down Summer. Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Still fighting the same damned (sea) monster. I don’t know when the ocean seeped into my blood. When the salt became my oxygen. How the shrill of seagulls became my morning aubade; the slapping of halyards my soothing lullaby. My spirit lifts at the rush of the surf. The spray fills me with desire. Earth is a stranger. Land holds me no charms . but a few points to navigate by, and then I go on. I am a woman mis-cast. In the grip of a (sea) monster. To conta...

The Upside Down Summer. Wednesday, September 19, 2012. 8220;At first I didn’t know it was fire.”. I’m in a writer’s workshop led by Mary Sojourner. 8217; (drawing out the word into a seven-syllable, five second utterance), ‘in the days of alcohol, peyote and very bad dope.’. She tells us to slow down. She doesn’t have the answers, she says. She provides a writing prompt, forbids us from stopping, sits demurely (she will bristle at that suggestion, no doubt) keeps track of our 20 minute time...I was at th...

The Upside Down Summer: November 2012
http://upsidedownsummer.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
The Upside Down Summer. Tuesday, November 13, 2012. 350 lunch / lecture. I should have known better than to eat something I couldn't quite decipher, when I wasn't really hungry anyway (but figured I would be later). However I thought I was being clever; settling into a cheesy but bright eatery at San Juan airport, plugging in, logging on, and making the best of my ample, really ample. And began a lengthy Expedia / Priceline / Airbnb search for accommodations . nursing my soda as tenderly as I was inc...

From Palette to Canvas - Harbor Boats
From Palette to Canvas. Cape Cod Salt Marsh. Welcome to my gallery. After raising my family I decided to take up oil painting. I have been fortunate to study under two excellent instructors, the first of whom retired at 96. That in itself was inspiration for me. My mother was also an artist as well as an instructor. All of my paintings are oil on canvas. Proudly powered by Weebly.

Baby boy is on the way! Summer is in full swing here on the farm. The sheep have shed their winter coats, the egg baskets are brimming over. We moved into our house the week before Christmas. It was cold and windy, the trees were barren and the grass was. When we moved to our new house, there was a long list of highlights. The kitchen, the back yard, the barn, and so on. A & B.
