Chapter 31-35 | Defending Blade
https://defendingblade.wordpress.com/2014/09/03/chapter-31-35
J J was furious. It had taken all he could do to keep his temper when Mark approached him about his plans. He’d hoped to have everything nailed down, the money and the equipment, before discussing anything specific with Mark. Now all that was up in the air. J J was willing to take advantage of the situation between Donna and Jason, but he wanted to stay in this town. That meant keeping the reputation he’d earned as Mark’s right hand man, and he had been certain Donna wouldn’t do any...I wouldn’t pu...

Chapter 24 | Defending Blade
https://defendingblade.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/chapter-24
Monday morning, May 2. In the quiet solitude of her armchair, hands folded around a cup of flavored hot tea, Kate looked into nothing. She didn’t want to turn on the computer, but some of her customers expected their finished work this afternoon. I’m going to plead temporary insanity or something, she told herself. I can’t concentrate on work right now. Could it actually be from the Revolutionary War? What would it be worth? What should we do about it? Her marriage to Jim Elliott had been a peaceful one,...

Chapter 17 | Defending Blade
https://defendingblade.wordpress.com/2011/12/12/chapter-17
Mid-day, April 23. Donna had never been so angry in her life, and she’d been angry plenty of times. That slimy little creep! And on top of that, she’d ruined her clothes. And her shoes! She threw the grass-stained pumps into her closet and pulled off her slacks. They had irreparable picks in the expensive fabric where she’d brushed against thorny vines. She tossed them atop the shoes. My plans are too important, the money is too much, he’ll just come back for more, he’ll ruin everything! From your own site.

Chapter 36-40 | Defending Blade
https://defendingblade.wordpress.com/2014/09/03/chapter-36-40
Donna’s temper tantrum had multiple origins. J.J.’s phone call. Jason’s sudden coolness. Mark’s foot-dragging on Elliott Pointe. Daddy’s refusal to “loan” her any more money. And the Elliotts! As she drove away from the Mattison house, angry tears were wrecking what was left of her mascara. Her driving was a little erratic and she didn’t watch where she was going. She figured Mark would come after her, considering the things she’d said. Suppose J. J. does tell Mark about Jason and me, so what? Donna had ...

MRI shows bursa tear, more prayer needed | Bette's Journal
https://bettesjournal.wordpress.com/2011/11/14/mri-shows-bursa-tear-more-prayer-needed
MRI shows bursa tear, more prayer needed. Dr Grubb looked at my shoulder MRI and found a small tear in the bursa. His office is making me an appointment to see the shoulder specialist at Pee Dee Orthopedics. They will let me know later today when the appointment is. Apparently these tears do not improve with time, they worsen – and especially worsen with certain positioning such as that used during radiation therapy. So what will the orthopedist suggest, I wonder? Feed for this Entry. You are commenting ...

Stopping radiation therapy altogether | Bette's Journal
https://bettesjournal.wordpress.com/2011/12/05/stopping-radiation-therapy-altogether
Stopping radiation therapy altogether. I returned to radiation oncology today for another skin check and to discuss things with the radiologist. The burns on my upper left chest don’t look or feel much better to me. The top layer of skin is constantly peeling in that one area, all of the radiated skin is still quite red and painful, and now has developed purplish areas that look something like bruises. He showed me the area he meant by entire field, which includes all the painful peeling skin. The bo...

Seimens Primus Linear Accelerator. Left: Siemens Primus Linear Accelerator. This is the type of machine used at McLeod Radiation Oncology. The gantry is in position to begin treatment; notice the angle. Right: Here a patient is being positioned for treatment. Note that the gantry is in its upright, stored position. I just close my eyes until the table stops moving. Responses to “Seimens Primus Linear Accelerator”. Feed for this Entry. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. I have one reques...

Opinions, opinions… and decisions | Bette's Journal
https://bettesjournal.wordpress.com/2011/12/20/opinions-opinions-and-decisions
Opinions, opinions… and decisions. I saw Dr. Sonfield last week and told him I’d stopped radiation therapy. He said he thought it was perfectly reasonable that I had stopped. He’d actually seen my radiation burns while they were pretty bad. He commented that there’s no accurate way to tell whether the additional few treatments would have added much more benefit and not to worry about it. He’s giving me a couple more months to heal up before removing the porta-cath, which was fine with me! Since Femara wo...

First radiation therapy today | Bette's Journal
https://bettesjournal.wordpress.com/2011/10/19/first-radiation-therapy-today
First radiation therapy today. The first thing the technician had said when I arrived in the treatment room was, “This won’t hurt, you won’t even feel it.” She meant the radiation beam won’t hurt. Last Saturday I went to pick up the prescription skin cream to use before and after each session, which helps prevent and/or heal radiation burns. To my unpleasant dismay I discovered that one little tube of the generic cream cost $45.00! I see the LE therapist tomorrow morning and will discuss this situation&#...

Several glitches need prayer | Bette's Journal
https://bettesjournal.wordpress.com/2011/11/10/several-glitches-need-prayer
Several glitches need prayer. 2) Shoulder pain has steadily gotten worse. Positioning the arm over my head for therapy gets more painful every time and Tylenol doesn’t help much. Since I still have to drive a good bit I can’t take anything stronger than Tylenol most days. Dr. Grubb ordered an MRI of the shoulder for today to rule out structural damage before recommending referral to an orthopedist, Cortisone shot, etc. I’d appreciate prayer for all these little glitches!
