Saturday 7-17 day 72 - 74 miles 3516 total miles. Darby to Missoula - home of Adventure Cycling Association. A long uneventful day except for my third flat, but a very enjoyable downhill ride. Staying at Hutchins Hostel. A very nice hostel. Bitterroot Mountains with shadow. Beaverhead Rock a Lewis and Clark Landmark. Camp at Dillon KOA with Beaverhead River.

Cycling across America from Williamsburg, Va to Florence, OR. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. The dream begins in 34 days. Sunday, March 7, 2010. 58 Days till the dream begins! This is my bike as it is now with all the racks, panniers and handle bar bag installed. I will carry tent, sleeping bag and pad above the rear wheel, but for training rides this will do. An update on fenders: I'll keep them. I've gotten used to the occational rattle and they sure save the bike and me from some nasty spray.

I have packed and repacked, trained and trained some more and fretted over details way more than I should have. Finally the day is getting close. What to my wondering eye should appear but this big tom turkey in full strut. I did the best I could whith my 28-135mm kit lens, but oh how I wished I had a longer lens. I had some spare time this afternoon so I went downtown to scout out good places to take photos of some of Kansas City's icons. The sun was out wall to wall so not a very good light, but I did find some good vantage points to return to and also took some snaps that turned out not bad.
