I trust you are all enjoying the warmer and lighter days, when its not blowing it certainly is very pleasant out there on the water. Its fantastic to see so many people coming along to the sessions especially in the weekends and on Wednesday’s. Saturday was awesome with a huge group of paddlers out there on the harbour all fully involved in what was quite a demanding session but a good one J. Awesome to see all those K2’s out there. Blue Lake 1 – 18-19 October Rotorua. September 18, 2014. Blue Lake 1 Sprint Regatta. The first Blue Lake event will be held in October and the club will be travelling to compete at this event. This will be the first opportunity of the year for racing and seeing how your training has been going over the winter months. Tuesday races on again. January 16, 2014. The course is chosen to suit conditions and may be laps of the bay or a trip round the Carter Fountain in Oriental Bay, generally staying fairly close to shore. PFDs are required by all entrants. Racing is open to kayaks, surf and ocean skis and waka amas, single and double. Stand up paddle boards are welcome but the course is the same. Entry is free to members of the Kupe and Mana kayak clubs and $5 per boat to non-members. President, Kupe Canoe Club.

Mana Madness 10km Race – Sunday 27th July. July 20, 2014. The Mana 10km race is happening this Sunday. It is part of the Get ready for a fantastic day of racing on a challenging but fun course. The 2km loops with a couple of extra turns will give the opportunity to make a break from the pack. There will be food and prizes available after the race and ribbons for the place getters. Kayak Krazy Mana 10km Event Information Sunday 26th June. Porirua Harbour, Onepoto Rowing Club/Mana Kayak Racing Clubrooms. Enter Online at www.canoeracing.org.nz. Or on the day (please bring the entry form from the website) see below. This 10km race will be split into 3 races (2 for younger paddlers) with points for each race of the series. The person with the most points will in the series. There will be 10mins between the last paddler finishing and the start of the following race. Any boat except K1.

We train year-round, with the only limiting factor being very strong wind. A Northerly is OK most of the time, as we’re relatively sheltered but strong southerlies make it not-so-good. Sometimes it’s blowing in the city and lighter at Mana, so always worth checking with a club contact if in doubt. During winter months, please bring a light for your kayak.
