I have not yet traveled to see Mount Rushmore, but I have learned about it and other landmarks through my collaboration with South Dakota artist friend Julie Wishmeyer. Julie is a prolific collage/assemblage artist, who after moving to the Black Hills from Chicago states, "I discovered I really needed to be in the hills, on a daily contemplative drive. Monday, February 7, 2011. Soft wind, really? It was a Blizzard! Snow Drift, Chicago Blizzard February 2011. Soft Wind is actually the name of a series of new work that I created a few weeks before 70 per miles wind gusts, lightening, thunder and 20 inches plus snow descended on the Chicago area February 1-2.
