Me & the Garbage Can. I’m My Mother. Me & the Garbage Can. We all do dumb things once in a while and I’m no exception. I’m always laughing at myself for some. Ridiculous thing I’ve done. Like, when I fell in the bath tub, crossways, while standing on a chair hanging curtains in the bathroom. Just before leaving for my first cruise to Bermuda, I tripped over a box and landed head first in a bucket,. Breaking my arm as I fell. And there was the time I tripped on the sidewalk blocks and slid on my nose?

Me & the Garbage Can. I’m My Mother. I heard the click as I closed the front door to my house for the last time. I was closing the door on the past and opening another door to a future filled with anticipation. I am starting over, now that my house belongs to a lovely young couple who will fill it with their own beautiful memories. I am free! Flock’s Watermelon Stand stood at the entrance to the trailer park where we lived. During the summer, you couldn’t ask for a more interesting place to sit and e...

Little Grandpa | Betty Kuhn

Me & the Garbage Can. I’m My Mother. When we moved to Pasadena, California, grandpa came to live with us again. His boys knew that mother could handle him better than they could. Mom took care of little grandpa until he died at a ripe old age. Watching grandpa, with his constant drinking, was probably why I married a man who didn’t drink. I miss that little old man and his shameless pinching. I could never figure out how he ever had a six-foot-two son like my father, but I’m glad he did.

Me & the Garbage Can. I’m My Mother. I’m My Mother. Have you looked in the mirror lately? Are you beginning to resemble one of your parents? Most of us do! We all take after our parents in one way or another. We have some of the character traits belonging to our mom or dad, such as their eyes, hair, personality, or their smile. Whether we like it or not we will probably begin to look like one of them, as we grow older. I know I do. Do you suppose it’s too late to firm up the arms that look like turkey wa...
