Ella's African Adventures : Ethiopia
http://ellasafricanadventures.blogspot.com/2015/02/ethiopia.html
Friday, February 20, 2015. For spring break we came to Ethiopia and we are visiting our friends, Burtukan and Nesibu, who run Yezelalem Minch. The flight went well and I didn't get sick, we stoped in Kigali, Rwanda to pick up more people and I got to see the country side. Ethiopian time is one hour ahead of Burundian time so we are adjusting good here. We drove home and had a relaxing evening at Morning Coffee Guesthouse. Ella's African Adventures : October 2014
http://ellasafricanadventures.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2014. The other day we went to our house helper Amoni's house, it was about a half an hour walk and it had just rained so it was pretty muddy, by the time we got back my feet were really hurting from my boots rubbing against my heels. All of the houses are made of brick and some have banana trees surrounding them, a lot of people have chickens, cows, and sometimes goats. They gave us fanta, which is a treat, and bread rolls with honey inside them. Here are some pictures:. We have been...

Ella's African Adventures : Ibitaro, the hospital
http://ellasafricanadventures.blogspot.com/2015/05/ibitaro-hospital.html
Saturday, May 9, 2015. Ibitaro, the hospital. Sometimes it is very fun or useful to live 5 minutes from a hospital, you get to go hold the new babies, see a boy getting a coin fished out of his throat, visit the children, and when my mom got a hairy caterpillar spick in her eye she just walked over to the neighbors house and our friendly eye doctor walked her to the hospital and fixed her right up. Ella's African Adventures : Chick update
http://ellasafricanadventures.blogspot.com/2015/03/chick-update.html
Saturday, March 14, 2015. As we have learned, chicks are very hard work. After Hazel's death we watched the chicks very closely so they wouldn't get picked off by crows or hawks but they still managed to somehow disappear in other ways. While we were in Ethiopia Amber caught the first case of chickalaria ( chick malaria), as we call it, and was found lifeless the next morning. Boo wast taken away, while Anna was watching, by what she said was a hideous crow. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Then we went to the feeding program, run by Burtukan and Nesibu, and helped give the food out to the kids. They had injera, the Ethiopian bread, with a sauce and bananas. All the kids were very nice and we even met another Mekdes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://ellasafricanadventures.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 30, 2015. Our mission agency is having a retreat in Kenya this week and we decided to come a few days early to go on safari. When we flew into Nairobi we spent the night in a guesthouse and then yesterday morning we drove to a very small airport that is just for flying to safari and a few beaches. We took a very small plane on a 45 minute flight to the Masai Mara. We landed in a dry field where our guide was waiting with a jeep. After a little more driving we came across a tower(group) of g...
