Book Hog: 'Circus Mirandus'
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2015/06/circus-mirandus.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Saturday, June 20, 2015. It's been a very crazy month. Actually, it all started in early May, when I was diagnosed with anxiety. So, I took some time off, read some books (thankfully, reading calmed me so much), walked A LOT, ate healthy food, stopped drinking caffeinated coffee (I miss it, though), and saw my doctor many times. With his best friend, Jenny, in tow, Micah goes in search of the circus in order to find the man who can save his grandfather's life.

Book Hog: 'Rooms'
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2015/04/rooms.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Sunday, April 26, 2015. If I could, I'd read ghost stories every day. Every Damn. Day. Especially if it's a good one. Not too scary, yet not absolutely terror-free. And it has to have a gothic flavor, even in a modern setting. A twist ending is nice, too, but I'm asking for a lot as it is. My fellow book blogger friend (and artist, I might add), Michelle, loaned me a copy of Lauren Oliver's new adult novel, 'Rooms'. And I couldn't put it down. But they are not a...

Book Hog: November 2014
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Sunday, November 9, 2014. The Eye of Zoltar (The Chronicles of Kazam #3)'. By now, most of you know that I love any book written by Jasper Fforde, he of the immensely popular 'Thursday Next'. Series. And you should know that I'm a huge fan of his series for independent readers, 'The Chronicles of Kazam'. So, Book Hog is a happy camper. I just finished reading the newest (and third) in the 'Kazam' series, 'The Eye of Zoltar'. The journey through the Cambrian Empi...

Book Hog: February 2015
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Sherlock Holmes-The Missing Years: Japan'. Yes, I'm still reading stories written by some friends and their family members, and I'm totally amazed at the raw differences in style. Mind you, reading a rough draft is rather hard, but it's fantastic to find a few diamonds-in-the-rough. One of the stories I'm reading is now in book form, and I promise, I really promise, that I'll be writing a review. I'm taking it slowly. Dr John H....

Book Hog: August 2014
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Sunday, August 17, 2014. Book Trailer: "One More Thing" by B.J. Novak. Links to this post. This has been the saddest year. Not only have I lost my daughter, but we have lost one of the world's most original comedians, gentle humanitarians, and sensitive actors. I speak, of course, about Robin Williams. I'm sure that Robin would approve. But I feel it was his writing that truly showcased his talent. Once I saw the funny, original trailer for 'One More Thing'.

Book Hog: December 2014
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Although I was going to post a book review, I felt that the time was right to kick 2014's ass. Books have been my salvation this year, and I hope they keep providing salvation to you, too. Without you, dear reader, there would be no stories to lift our souls, to make us consider, to help us find our better selves. He was a self-published author. And Hugh Howey, author of the phenomenal book, 'Wool'? Well, there you go. For the joy&#...

Book Hog: January 2015
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Saturday, January 31, 2015. So, there's that. Work has also been taking up a lot of my time; curating a book section in a non-profit thrift shop is hard work. And then there's our thrift shop's Ebay site. *sigh* I'm still astounded by the generosity of people. That will never fade. And it was good. But not as good as the author's previous novel, 'The Art of Racing in the Rain'. I had to grab it and read it. It's labeled a 'ghost story', but it's much more than t...

Book Hog: October 2014
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Tuesday, October 28, 2014. I hate J.K. Rowling. There I said it, and I mean it. But I don't hate her in a mean way. No, no. I hate her with a great amount of love. Confusing? Sure It's a loveish-hateish thing. It centers around the publishing world, a place in which Rowling is very familiar. But as Strike soon discovers, there's more to Quine's disappearance than the usual holiday from home and family. Quine has just finished a new novel that features poison...

Book Hog: 'The Incarnations'
http://jacki-bookhog.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-incarnations.html
Recommendations for the 'Book Hog' in You! Sunday, April 19, 2015. It seems that the older I get, the longer my illnesses last. Well, at least it feels that way. At least I still have books. There are gifted authors who make me think about my past and past. Pasts in a way that doesn't contain a new age. Vibe I believe in reincarnation and it's evil stepchild, karma, so that's why Susan Barker's newest novel, 'The Incarnations'. Hit the spot and made me forget all about my big, bad, nasty cold. And why is...
