Thursday, April 30, 2009. Spring 2009 Has Sprung! As spring augers winter out of the way on the high desert of Western Colorado the trees are leafing out, the nurseries are stocking up and our fingernails are filled with dirt. WOW! What a beautiful time of year. While Joe hasn't made her appearance yet we have had a few visitors. Ducks! Last week we had the waskley wabbits ( for my international viewers that's what the cartoon character Elmer Fudd calls rabbits) come to the yard. They decided they li...

Saturday, December 27, 2008. Hector Frozen and the Chr-Chr Bird Sings. Hector is my spitting frog. I bought him a few years ago and finally plumbed him into the pump system so he would spit, hopefully, year-round. This is his first winter and I guess I'll have to come up with a plan "F" since Hector is now officially FROZEN. Here are some pictures of Hector taken between December 17 and the day after Christmas. As you can see he is trying to spit but it's more like a drool. Saturday, December 27, 2008.

Monday, May 14, 2012. Stretch and Flap Repeat. Here we are, 15th day since hatching. As we wind down to the last days in the nest I still don't find it boring. They are very active. much more than just yesterday. The oldest sometimes jumps around like he has ants in his pants. I've noticed that sometimes mom or dad will come to the nest but stay away as if to entice one or more of the chicks to come over for a meal. So far no chick has actually stepped outside the white ring of the nest. In this video yo...
