Mother of God
http://stmtch.tripod.com/mother_of_god.html
Saint Matthew's Lutheran church. Why did the Christian Church choose to call Mary the "Mother of God? The short answer is that the Church experienced many challenges to the idea that Jesus, the son of Mary, was to be regarded as the " Son of God. This claim that the conception of Jesus was by divine action was the basis of the doctrine that Jesus was the Son of God and the Son of Man. Still, others claimed that the man Jesus was merely the husk of a divine being who resided within that husk as a "Ghost o...

Who was Mary?

Saint Matthew's Lutheran church. These questions may seem strange to us today but to our ancestors in faith they were very important questions. Questions that Christians today accept at face value. Why were they important? Because they dealt with the essential nature and character of Jesus. The doctrines about Mary are really the teachings of the Church relating to Jesus. Mary is all about Jesus. But the human was lifeless, so the Bible says that God stooped down over the man and breathed into his nostri...

Son of God
http://stmtch.tripod.com/son_of_god.html
Saint Matthew's Lutheran church. Jesus as the Son of God. Is essential for our understanding of the radical nature of God's intervention. We start again at Genesis where the Bible declares that the human person is made in the image and likeness of God. It would seem that this declaration sees the human as being or meant to be perfect as God is perfect. It would be a perfection based on humankinds awesome power as a sentient being created with God like abilities. However, the humans respond to God defensi...

Mary

Saint Matthew's Lutheran church. Joseph is the husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus. Since Jesus is conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, Jesus' "Father" is God. However, Jesus is the divine person who subjects his divinity to humanity. Therefore, Jesus has another "Father" in Joseph. According to his human nature Jesus requires a human father (just like anyone else). Joseph will provide Jesus with the male half of his human nurture and upbringing. Phone: 201 385 5799.

Jesus

Saint Matthew's Lutheran church. Jesus is God's Answer to the problem of Adam and Eve. The failure of Adam and Eve to be rationally reflective and responsible for their own action presented God with the problem of what to do about God like creatures who lacked self control and who showed a proclivity to blame others for for their failure. In the fulness of time God sent his only begotten son. Phone: 201 385 5799. Http:/ mycps.sitesell.com/Frederick32.html.

Saint Matthew's Lutheran church. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,. I will fear no evil. For thou art with me. Thy rod and Thy Staff shall comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me. In the presence of my enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil. Surely, goodness and mercy will follow me. All the days of my life. Sheep raising is an o...

Saint Matthew's Lutheran church. Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church was founded in 1908. During its one hundred year history the church has held fast to the Reformation principle of One Lord, One Faith, One scripture, One Baptism, One Grace. Today, however, is not the Middle Ages. Today is the 21st century. Things have changed. People have a different world view. And the Church is understood differently. God is active in our midst and wants us to reach out and touch people. We encourage our fellow Christian...
