The magnificent ruins of Caesarea lie along the coastal plain of Sharon, extending between the modern cities of Haifa to the north and Tel Aviv to the south. We will visit Caesarea on Day 12 of our tour, and hopefully have additional time to stop along the shore of the Mediterranean Sea for a short swim and beach experience. The shores of the Dead Sea boast remains of civilizations dating from prehistoric times. On the west bank, about twelve miles south of Jericho is the most famous historical locality, Qumran.
