Living Simply 365: From the sublime to the ridiculous (and everywhere in between)
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2014/10/from-sublime-to-ridiculous-and.html
Friday, October 17, 2014. From the sublime to the ridiculous (and everywhere in between). To them, I say HA! Here's an example of some typical patron interactions in the Children's Room and beyond. It's a fairly quiet morning in the Children's Room. The kids are in school, there are no classes scheduled, and I am working on some book orders. A mom and her son come in, play on the computer and read some books. About an hour later, this happens. Mother: You need to stop. Me: Please get down. The place is b...

Living Simply 365: April 2011
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 23, 2011. Why do YOU read? It's Book Fair week in the Children's Room. That means a lot of time at my desk. It also means a lot of time to catch up on things like professional journals and literary blogs. A lot of reading time, but also a lot of thinking and introspection time. And sometimes, just sometimes, I read an article or a blog post, or a sentence even, that gets me really thinking. Http:/ blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2011/04/death disports with writers mo.html. I know an awful lot of...

Living Simply 365: Friday Fuzzy
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2014/10/friday-fuzzy_10.html
Friday, October 10, 2014. Wow, as long and frustrating as this week was, it doesn't seem possible that it's Friday already! I hope you had a great week. I got some good workouts in this week, but I need to not pressure myself too much out of the starting gate. It's only been a week. It's unreasonable to expect that I have lost 15 pounds and have rock hard abs already. Right? Yes, I know. Give it time. *sigh*. Ah well, here's your Friday Fuzzy:. I'm sure there will be a fun report to give. Membership has ...

Living Simply 365: September 2014
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Time to get moving! I had stacks of exercise tapes (remember VHS tapes? I had the whole Kathy Smith collection! And then a slew of DVDs that I would do in my tiny apartments until I got so bored I just couldn't do them any more. I have tried line dancing, modern dance, aerobics and yoga, belly dancing and pilates. The problem is, even though I really don't like the classes, I get bored when I am working out alone. So Planet Fitness, I'm coming back to you. And I'm bringin...

Living Simply 365: February 2012
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 29, 2012. My kind of Snow Day. When I woke up this morning, I drank a glass of water, stretched a little, looked out the window and then I turned on the TV. What's that? Rome Public and Parochial Schools. Closed? No other school listings, just Rome. Hmmm, must be a mistake. I looked out the window again. Nope, nothing. Just grass and a few patches of snow. I changed the channel, and there it was again. Hmmm. Okay, then. Gonna be that kind of day, huh? I knew I was doing well. I fe...

Living Simply 365: Friday Fuzzy
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2014/10/friday-fuzzy.html
Friday, October 3, 2014. Well, I made it through some pretty awesome changes this week. I got back on the writing cycle. Horse? Whatever, I'm doing it. And I plan to keep doing it. I started back at the gym, and I have kept up with it. Yeah, yeah, it's only been two days, but that's TWO whole days. Of exercising. Me! But I have a purple gym bag and new sneakers (not purple, though) and an excuse to buy a purple water bottle, so I think I might stick with it this time. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Living Simply 365: Slow Cooker Sunday and other weekend notes
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2014/10/slow-cooker-sunday-and-other-weekend.html
Monday, October 6, 2014. Slow Cooker Sunday and other weekend notes. Ah, Monday. I have always liked Mondays. Mainly because I don't have to be at work until afternoon on Mondays, thus extending the weekend and easing into the week gently. I can enjoy the entirety of a Sunday, extend long weekends away, or just stay up late reading or binge watching my latest obsession. But enough about Mondays, let's talk about the weekend. What a weekend! For that, you won't be sorry! Of course, for the crispies, you c...

Living Simply 365: Allergy season, an alphabet
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2014/10/allergy-season-alphabet.html
Thursday, October 9, 2014. Allergy season, an alphabet. Ode to allergy season. Ok, so it's not really an ode, but I just don't have the energy to do a cross stitch sampler, so here's my offering to the goddess of hay fever. A is for Allergies, Allegra and Achoo! B is for Blah,. C is for Coughing, Congested and Could it be Consumption? D is for Drip . drip . drip. E is for Enough! F is for Frost, which I wish would come Freeze! G is for Gesundheit. H is for Headaches, Hay fever and Hugs. Lots of hugs.

Living Simply 365: April 2012
http://livingsimply365.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 30, 2012. Week 11 of the 52 changes. I just realized that it has been 2 weeks since I posted on my progress. Eeegads! It's been a busy few weeks, and the changes from the past two weeks (and this week's change, as well) are ones I have already been doing for a while. Week 10 was Stretch for 20 minutes, three times a day. I already stretch 15 minutes, twice a day, in the morning and at night. So, this one was easy, too. :). Keep up the good work. Next week, we learn to breath. I do find myse...
