Vishnu, una de las encarnaciones de Brahaman el Dios sin forma de los Hindúes, dejó caer una gota de néctar y puso su huella. Algo así como la calle de las estrellas en Estados Unidos. Atrás queda el ruidoso gigante Indio, al que he de volver cuando salga de Nepal a finales de enero, aunque de momento la primera prueba la he superado sin rotura de tímpanos. Martes, 29 de enero de 2008. Los milagros de Cana. En la mayoría de las esquinas de Beirut hay tanquetas militares en cuya torreta un soldado echa la siesta. Están cubiertas por un toldo que brinda sombra fresca al militar o lo resguarda de la lluvia que arremete con fuerza inusitada. A los pies del mastodóntico vehículo otro soldado no quita el dedo del gatillo del fusil mientras observa el hipnótico andar de una libanesa que, con su cadencia, hace tambalearse el tanque. No hay respeto por el ciclista sino la ley del más fuerte La contaminación es tan alta que obliga a pedalear con un pañuelo para proteger la boca y la nariz, aunque hace mucho calor. La salida de Lahore ha llevado un par de horas y un par de broncas con los descerebrados conductores. Pero por fin llegamos a la frontera de Pakistán. Lunes, 17 de noviembre de 2008.

Friday, August 1, 2008. The border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan closes for lunch. They put a lock and officials go for lunch and siesta. I decided to go to the river for a swim and a wash. To enter Uzbekistan you have to do a medical check up in a 3 by 3m room, a doctor (I think) is having a nap. Both cities have beautiful buildings built hundreds of years ago and that have survived to many earthquakes. Winter. But I have already learnt to live with challenges, even to need them.
