The Big Bus Build. This is the journey of our school bus conversion to a motor home. Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Yes it has been a while, but baby it's cold outside. I took all day to make sure I didn't make the hole too large and I am very happy with the install. I painted the ouside door of the furnace the same color as the bus so it looks like it belongs there. The driving position is really good and getting in and out quite a bit easier. I decided that I was going to give the top of the bus two coats of roof sealant to help with heat and put a good seal on the roof. The required me on top of the bus a number of times and a rounded metal roof is just the recipe for disaster. Luckily my deft footwork surpasses my camera technique and I am happy to report no injuries. Well I guess I learned my lesson.

The Big Bus Build. This is the journey of our school bus conversion to a motor home. Sunday, December 19, 2010. This weekend I had to finish getting two big pieces, the fridge and propane heater. Let me give you the breakdown on how Saturday went down. Me in a bus,. I drove to Springville. To look at a propane tank, that didn't work for me, and get the furnace for $150. Springville. Is an hour and a half drive south from my house. I was able to look through three very wrecked $300,000 plus motorhomes.

They boys have been working every weekend, all weekend long, and a lot of nights after work. Finally, Marshall was able to prime his jeep, just in time to take it to Rhino to get the bed lined. Sunday, March 27, 2011. Saturday we painted a lot of brackets, the dash, inside of the tailgate and hoods. Maughan's jeep got a second coat of primer and is almost done being wet sanded. Dewsnup's got it's first coat of primer, and the boys started to block sand it. Unfortunately, there's still a little more body work to be done on it before more primer and wet sand. Saturday, April 2, 2011. The paint day is finally here. We finished up some sanding and cleaning last night and loaded them onto the trailers. Jed and Marshall headed up to the paint booth early this morning. They're hoping to paint one before lunch, and paint the second after, let them dry overnight, and bring them home tomorrow. Thursday, February 24, 2011. Pressure wash, paint, and a new panel! Jed was working on painting the frame after pressure washing it, and he took out his transfer case and dropped it off to get a terra-low 4:1 conversion done. Marshall spent some time on the back end, starting on the right rear and working around to the left quarter panel.
