Big Ideas: Help Yourself. I won't be getting around to any of these projects, not in this lifetime, anyway.but maybe someone else will? Here you go: I'm handing out wings. Friday, May 23, 2008. Someone should start a home repair and maintenance company with an all-female staff of field workers. Home inspections, too. If someone really wanted to exploit the female brand aspect, they could do it by outfitting the ladies with neat pink toolbelts and toolboxes. Friday, May 16, 2008. The softer qualities of t...

Big Ideas: Help Yourself. I won't be getting around to any of these projects, not in this lifetime, anyway.but maybe someone else will? Here you go: I'm handing out wings. Tuesday, December 30, 2008. What if Everyone Told the Truth? This is a giant concept for some writer or philosopher out there to explore. Ooh Sorry, that was only going to be a "partly" bit. But, I suppose, if someone wants to write this idea, it's best they are warned about the territory they may also find themselves exploring. As we ...

Standing at the Gates of the New Year. Sacred Mystery, waiting on the threshold of this new year,. Girl on a road. Not much w...

Adventures of a Girl on a Road: March 2011
http://girlonaroad.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Adventures of a Girl on a Road. Thursday, March 3, 2011. My friend Natalia and her sister Arianna have started a sister's blog - which led me here.and I had to log in in order to follow their blog (they're very funny and remind me a lot of my relationship with my own sister).and when I logged in, and saw my own blog, I realized it has been an insanely long time since I wrote here. If I look at the pattern, it would seem that I blog when I'm grieving. Huh. Interesting pattern. And yet.even though all ...
Adventures of a Girl on a Road: July 2008
http://girlonaroad.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Adventures of a Girl on a Road. Friday, July 18, 2008. So, I told my friend I was buying dinner, that she could pick the place.which basically turned into "Tell me what kind of food you want, and I'll find a place that serves it" (she's not from this area). She said she wanted Thai food. Aside from the fact that I was nervous about there even being such an ethnic place around these stickly parts.I had never had Thai food before. Before tonight, that is. I ordered shrimp and peapods. Girl on a road. Well,...

http://girlonaroad.blogspot.com/2009/12/this-weeks-pick-one-thing.html
Adventures of a Girl on a Road. Wednesday, December 16, 2009. This week's pick one thing. Within the last 6 months, I have been required to work from the office (as opposed to working from home).to make the concept (and the rush-hour commute) more palatable, I started cultivating this horrible habit of going through the McDonald's drive through for McCafe'. Then, as long as I was there, I would get a breakfast sandwich. I have saved $5.59/day on the coffee and McGriddle combo and avoided fast food!

Adventures of a Girl on a Road. Friday, May 16, 2008. The more I smile, the more you pout - we'll help each other out! I've felt kind of quiet until now. I was searching YouTube for Ralph Covert video, so I could hear samples of his music and know which cd I needed to purchase from ITunes. I did find good old Ralph, and in the process, came across this little ditty of James Taylor singing to Oscar (the Grouch).I couldn't help but smile.and (bonus! I find myself newly inspired to pick up my guitar. And li...

Adventures of a Girl on a Road. Friday, December 11, 2009. Grieving through the "firsts". My Dad died in mid-October 2008. Fully a year ago. They" say that the first everything is the hardest after someone dies. First holidays, first birthday.you name it.if it's the first after the death, then it's the hardest. Whereas someone whose loved one died early in the year might experience their first holidays without the loved one with more sadness and missing. I keep clinging to the fact that grief is a proces...

Thoughts Questions Comments
Monday, November 1, 2010. How to post MP3 audio files to Facebook. This week's handy #ManicMonday Q&A from my Facebook business page. Is a good one for all you musos and music lovers out there who are looking to share music on Facebook. Funnily enough, Facebook wouldn't allow me to post this as a Discussion Topic or a comment, because of 'abusive content' - I suspect this means they don't want people sharing audio files on their site. So, without further ado, Helen asks:. Let's go through it, step by step.

The Big Ideas
The Big Ideas blend exuberance, insouciance, and a mess of instruments to form charming folk-based pop. Formed in Portland, Ore., in 2008, the band has gradually established itself in the Portland music scene while appearing regularly throughout the Pacific Northwest. Known for their vocal harmonies and memorable melodies, The Big Ideas’ live shows have a casual, familiar feel, with each of the five members taking turns playing several instruments and handling both lead and backing vocals.
