Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. Friday, July 20, 2007. It looked like the weather was going to be great for the upcoming weekend so I decided mid-week to make some plans. I invited my boys to come along but the eldest had to work on Saturday and the two youngest had football practice. They sadly declined and said perhaps next time! I saw the opportunity to get out by myself with no restrictions as to where to go and how long to stay. Cool! Pre-Historic Man had occupied th...

Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. Sunday, August 17, 2008. A beautiful day deep in the heart of the Wyoming Range. Box Canyon is not far from the highest point in the range, just a mile or so north of it. A nice trail takes one to the divide and one can continue over into Lunch Creek, or take the Wyoming Range Trail to the north, or to the south! Top it off with some damn delicious thimble berries and killer views! Did I mention the cool waterfall? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. Saturday, July 4, 2009. McLeod Lake / Corner Peak. So, Tate and I are camped out over in Wyoming Friday night, got a nice secluded spot, no noise other than the distant sound of the creek flowing and other typical sounds of the forest. Got a big day the next day, longish hike with some killer views (we hope). About 3 am I awake with a start. Something disturbed my deep sleep, but I am unsure what it was. Tate snoring? Kind regards, Wil.

Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. Saturday, October 14, 2006. Whiskey Peak looms above Dubois, Wyoming, though it seems rather blah viewed from that angle. The mountain itself is pretty nondescript, but the views are incredible, top to bottom. Starting in near desert terrain, passing through forest and ending on a mostly barren and windswept summit. Doesn't get much better than this. Crowheart Butte is visible to the East. Quite the story about this place.

Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. Thursday, July 22, 2004. Named for a 19th century teamster (Harry Leatherman), Leatherman Peak in the Lost River Range is the 2nd highest Peak in Idaho and is one of the illustrious Idaho 12ers. Unlike so many other peaks that are hidden from view, Leatherman boldly stands out. Mount Corruption from the drive in on the east side. Leatherman is seldom climbed due to the long approaches and proximity to Borah, Idaho' s highest peak. About a m...

Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. Saturday, June 30, 2001. This peak, named after Winfield Scott an early settler in the area, is located just south of the Idaho/Montana border in the Beaverhead Range. It is not on the Continental Divide, but rather sits on a spur just south of the actual divide. This shot from the trail head.not really Scott, but the lower peak in front of it. From the top, looking towards the Lemhi Range. Like much of Idaho, no red tape or permits require...

Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. Wednesday, July 4, 2007. Well the weekend went by with no "incident" and Monday found me feeling pretty darn good. I planned to use the 4th of July to make up for the lost weekend but one problem arose.all my boys had to work on that day, along with rising early and putting up a 100 or so flags for Scouting. I could see the Wind River Range but the air was full of smoke from the Horse Creek fire, still burning more than two weeks later when...

Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. Thursday, September 1, 2005. You Don't Know Why? This is what my wife Kathy said to me after I couldn't answer the question posed to me - "Why do you climb your stupid mountains? She wasn't being terribly critical. It was just an offhand question she asked one evening. I just sheepishly shrugged and tried to change the subject. It is one of those questions that are hard to answer. .kind of. If you have to ask, you won't understand. 8221; It...
