Big Oak Ranch is a small part of the original 9000 acre Rancho Ojo de Agua de la Coche, acquired by Martin Murphy in 1845. Diana Avenue, which ends at the ranch, is named after Murphys granddaughter. Through the mid-1800s, the original ranch more than doubled in size, but was subsequently subdivided and sold off into much smaller pieces.
