http://yearbetterteacher.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
1 Year to a Better Teacher. Sunday, August 31, 2014. Free Stuff That is Useful for Drama. There are lots of teacher freebies out there. But few are geared towards drama programs. But I've found a couple of really cool freebies that actually apply to theatre classes. Is an incredible resource. They offer lesson ideas, scripts, games, all geared towards secondary drama classrooms. I've gotten great ideas from their newsletter (I used this inner monologue. That will give you a 7 day free trial. Each day...

1 Year to a Better Teacher: Student Perceptions of Classes
http://yearbetterteacher.blogspot.com/2015/01/student-perceptions-of-classes.html
1 Year to a Better Teacher. Friday, January 16, 2015. Student Perceptions of Classes. I keep hearing students say "We don't do anything in that class." It really throws me off. Are they really sitting in all of their classes literally doing nothing? Does it only count if they take a test? Or do something for a grade? Or get out of their seats? What qualifies as doing something? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Script lesson plans each day. Follow my "Before You Leave" list. Use a positive voice tone.

1 Year to a Better Teacher: Documentation
http://yearbetterteacher.blogspot.com/2015/01/documentation.html
1 Year to a Better Teacher. Friday, January 9, 2015. I've always heard that as a teacher you need to document everything. I've never quite known what that means. I've documented interactions with students, but wasn't quite sure what to record. Recently after all the drama with my administration I've started really documenting everything. I'm also keeping track of interactions with admin. I need to get my scripts approved and in the past I have just dropped them off. This time around I'm having th...Relax...

1 Year to a Better Teacher: Emotional Recall
http://yearbetterteacher.blogspot.com/2015/01/emotional-recall.html
1 Year to a Better Teacher. Wednesday, January 7, 2015. I'm starting a monologue unit with my beginning drama classes this semester. We've done a lot of work on physical characterization and know I want to add emotional character concepts to the mix. I'm using some Stanislaski methods to help them access character emotions. Part of that includes emotional recall. I hope that I'm making the right decision and that I'm handling it well. I really don't want to do the same thing my cooperating teacher did.

1 Year to a Better Teacher: Minimalist Sets
http://yearbetterteacher.blogspot.com/2015/01/minimalist-sets.html
1 Year to a Better Teacher. Saturday, January 17, 2015. I am not a big set design person. My preference in everything I direct is minimalist. I think it puts the focus on the performance and saves money. So I was super stoked when a friend of mine showed me these, two articles about a minimalist production. Of Into the Woods. 1 Year to a Better Teacher: December 2014
http://yearbetterteacher.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
1 Year to a Better Teacher. Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Being Student Focused Runs Both Ways. I've realized something about being student focused. Not only does it mean trying to do what is best for them even if it isn't my preference, it also means doing what is best for them even if it isn't there preference. They will not always be happy with what I do and that is okay. Them being unhappy doesn't have to mean I'm doing something wrong. Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Between a Rock and a Hard Place.
