We figured that the others would have such a hard time with the hills that we'd have no problem getting to the point where the paths merged with time to spare. We figured wrong. We quickly covered the ground between us and McDonald's, nearly slipping on a bridge expansion joint on a rain-covered bridge, but making it safely to shelter in one piece. Amazing. Either way, I was always quite happy with it. And it turns out they are used in most everything - well, in most processed (animal and) people food products....

Saturday, July 30, 2011. OK, it's still July 30, and I'm still sitting in the same coffee shop in Burton- time to catch up a little. July 23 day 34 Coal City, near Morris IL 106 miles! Very hot and humid. This is homeland for Dick, and 2 childhood friends and a sister-in-law took him to dinner. Camp was in a private campground with the bathrooms far away except for one portapotty.
