Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Day 1 -Bandar Abbas. Arrived in Bandar Abbas this morning at 9:30am after an eleven hour ferry trip from Sharjah and only fitful sleep on a bench of three aircraft type seats. On the positive side, every Iranian we have met has been friendly and helpful. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Day 5 (17/4): Shiraz to Esfahan - 508Km. Well this was the longest day's distance so far and not very special. We left at 7:30am having filled up with fuel the previous evening to give us a clear start. We had to fight our way out of the centre town with the commuter traffic to get on to the highway where we were held up for a while by a flock of sheep being herded across the six lane road! Thursday, April 14, 2011. Day 2 - Bandar Abbas to Darab: 370Kms. What a fantastic ride! We left Bandar Abbas at 9:30am and with the help of some very good directions from the hotel managed to get on to the right road with only one wrong turn. After a brief lunch break and re-fueling, the next 80 to 100Kms was just great biking roads with everything you can imagine: Good surface, long downhill curves, short S bends, hills and even tunnels!
