Bike Nurd: Truly Saddened

http://www.bikenurd.blogspot.com/2013/06/truly-saddened.html

Tuesday, 18 June 2013. This post is not about my feelings for R2CC from the standpoint of how they use the funds their riders raise. I'll go into that in detail another time. This is also not an attempt to assign blame to any of the involved parties, but more an attempt to show my frustration towards a tragedy that in my eyes was avoidable. This past weekend on the Vancouver -Seattle R2CC a 16 year old participant lost his life. I don't have any practical answers here on how to make R2CC safe. Total ...

Bike Nurd: Oh Christmas Tree / Lighten Up

http://www.bikenurd.blogspot.com/2012/12/oh-christmas-tree-lighten-up.html

Wednesday, 12 December 2012. Oh Christmas Tree / Lighten Up. Kris please don't read this one. -even though I know you will anyways. To every one else sorry for the ramble. So last night riding home from work. Okay that wasn't the last thing, on the left or above of you are on a small screen is my buddy's set up for December commuting. Now that's lit up like a Christmas tree. He says festive is how he rolls. Listening to I'll be home for Christmas, perhaps I should lighten up. Till the next time,.

Bike Nurd: Peddling 40

http://www.bikenurd.blogspot.com/2013/02/peddling-40.html

Friday, 22 February 2013. Disclaimer written in March forgot to publish). If you apply the rules being used in Canada for how to give back change in the post penny era to age, I'm 40. The actual date is unimportant. The question is how do I feel? I spent much of my 20's and early 30's living a lifestyle that got me away from healthy living and even from riding. Sure I went out for the odd spin, but it wasn't until I was let's say 35 (rounding) that I truly returned to my riding roots.

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle: 2014 Cycling Goals

http://pickellscycling.blogspot.com/2014/01/2014-cycling-goals.html

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle. Wednesday, 15 January 2014. I'll be racing for Daryl-Evans Racing. In Category 4 in 2014. This is now my second year racing with a UCI license so I'm setting some personal goals for the upcoming season. In my opinion this is the top level of amateur racing in BC, and will be the main focus me in 2014. Goal: Top 10 in Delta, UBC, and White Rock. I love this race. It has quickly become my favourite in my short cycling career. 3) Race the Ridge. Goal: Participate in 7-10 races.

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle: May 2013

http://pickellscycling.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle. Sunday, 19 May 2013. Race The Ridge 2013. April 27-28 2013 marked the biggest weekend of my very short racing career. The always. Interesting Race the Ridge stage race organized by Local Ride Racing. Was being held in Maple Ridge. As with most early season races the weather always decides to play a factor. My late race attack in the criterium getting shutdown. The toughest course I have raced on. It makes the Spring Series races look easy. The road surface got really rough...

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle: Rapha Festive 500 - 2014

http://pickellscycling.blogspot.com/2015/01/rapha-festive-500-2014.html

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle. Saturday, 3 January 2015. Rapha Festive 500 - 2014. Another year, another Rapha Festive 500. 2014 marks my fourth year completing the somewhat insane challenge of riding 500 kilometres between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. I had been off my bike for four weeks after the end of cyclocross season. This was definitely going to be a shock to the system. Festive 500 - 2014. Ride #1 - 119.3 km. Ride #2 - 81.3 km. Ride #3 - 61.6 km. I used the now well-traveled South Fraser P...

http://pickellscycling.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle. Tuesday, 13 March 2012. Race Report - Spring Series #2 (Aldergrove Long). It was another cold and dreary Sunday morning. The perfect day for another spring bike race. The second race of the Escape Velocity Spring Series. Was out in Aldergrove. There was no novice category offered at this race, so I was going to race with the C Group, a step up in difficulty. The course was also significantly more difficult than last week's River Road course. View Aldergrove Long RR. After ...

http://pickellscycling.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle. Wednesday, 11 April 2012. Race Report - Barry's Roubaix. I was looking forward to Barry's Roubaix for several weeks. I felt good about my results in the Spring Series. I had won the novice race at River Road. And did well sticking with C Group a week later. I drew inspiration from Joshua Weiss. An accomplished cyclocross racer, who recently completed the Chuckanut 50. Waiting for the Category 3/4 race to start. Then it's our turn! On the plus side, I was happy with the 35 ...

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle: BC Superweek 2014

http://pickellscycling.blogspot.com/2014/07/bc-superweek-2014.html

Adventures of a Cycling Pickle. Saturday, 12 July 2014. The 2014 edition of BC Superweek was a pretty big letdown. I had set lofty goals for myself this year, and was unable to meet any of them. Driving the pace in the Ladner Criterium. I left this race with questions. What could I do to avoid a crash like that? Closer to the front? Did I overreact to the contact? Very hard to come up with answers. A DNF was definitely not the result I was looking for. Several areas of my new 2014 Daryl-Evans Racing kit ...

Biken & Cachen

Samstag, 31. August 2013.
