Ingrid and I made a crash visit to northern Sweden and hiked a bit in the mountains. Short mountain excursion with Ingrid in northern Sweden. Is there something that will not kill you here? Our ride went throught the Chianti district of Tuscany, famous for its many vinyards. There were signs everywhere, pointing them out between the hills.

After aborting the Eurasia trip due to visa issues (which could have been resolved but would result in riding through scorching heat), I’ve been spending just under two months in Sweden. It was of course a bit of a bitter feeling having to return from Iran, but in the end I think it was the right decision. Its been a fantastic road biking summer back home, but now it is time to get back into touring mode.

From Hokkaido Japan to England. By bicycle. Sado Island and Niigata. We are Andy and Clare Evans. We’re from the UK and since 2010 have been working as English teachers in Hokkaido, Japan. In August 2015 our contracts and work visas are expiring, so we’ll be setting off on our bicycles to cycle the long way home to England. Most of the way we’ll aim to camp where possible, so will be carrying our tent and sleeping gear. We’ve joined the cycling hospitality network Warm Showers. And Mark and Katya Lodge.
