The journey within the journey. Sunday, April 29, 2012. Avid readers of "cycles" will know that for me the cycling never actually stops. in fact this has been the best back-to-back year of riding i can ever remember as i managed to cycle right through the winter and so carry a seamless experience from last summer in my legs and head that i hope will help me on my planned big journey this. More about that another time. Well, i didn't get a coffee or a pastry but i did ride out on this. I ride for africycle.

The journey within the journey. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Kingston to Selkirk Shores State Park (i). Sleeping in the pew was a bad idea but it had to be done. The opportunity might never present itself again. I kept telling myself that as I slowly dragged myself out of the half-sleep I'd experienced through much of the night as people shuffled to the washroom and the kitchen, started packing up their stuff and generally started the day. For future riders, here's a handy-dandy ferry schedule. Oh well....

The journey within the journey. Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Ride for africycle 5.0. As a feature of my life, i like to help raise money for worthy causes. Three causes draw my attention - pediatric cancer, huntingtons, and malawi. Each gets my attention in a different way,but the one i wish to draw your attention to here. Is the piece with malawi. It's a little country, very far away. Of course it's very poor. But there are people there. Because it involves bikes. I own two bicycles. One is a road bike.

There's some sweet and good riding starting to open up where i live. the weather is stabilizing and there's snow for sure but it's flurry type snow that blows hard and doesn't really stick. the rain's cold but that's what clothes are for - oh, and hot showers! The journey within the journey. Friday, October 28, 2011. Ride for Africycle 5.0 Day Nine. Otherwise, I couldn't tell you the route we followed. It was super hilly and there were some breathtaking views and speedy descents. Eventually we arrived in Millbrook and paid a visit to our friends Colin and Deanne at The Pastry Peddler.
